News From The Nest
Congratulations 2019 TOTY Ms. Amy Ponder!
Think About It
Over the last few years, some of our departments have made conscious efforts to include more inquiry lessons in their curriculum. The social studies department, for instance, has put a greater emphasis on analyzing primary and secondary documents.
A few easy ways to incorporate this strategy into your classes:
- Finding other ways to solve math problems
- Building something using limited resources
- Predicting the results of a change to a familiar system (ex: extinction of an animal within the food chain)
- Questioning the potential biases of a writer
- Writing a "lost" chapter to a book
Whenever possible, have students also explain their thought process and conclusions. As an added bonus, this can double as a constructed response!
On the Right Page
Last Tuesday two TCCHS teachers represented us at a PAGE event “Day on Capital Hill." Ms. Teresa Carver and Ms. Erika Wyatt learned about the 2019 PAGE Legislative Priorities:
School safety & security
Teacher pipeline

We appreciate their efforts to serve as a voice for southwest Georgia and to be proactive in protecting our children and our schools through the legislative processes.
