Father John invites all families to attend mass this weekend for a Special Blessing
Catechetical Sunday is celebrated the weekend of September 18/19 throughout the world. The theme this year is: “Say the Word and My Soul Shall Be Healed." There will be a special blessing for all who teach/catechize at every Mass. It’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on each person's role, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel.
After the homily, Father will call all teachers and staff to the altar for Ascension Catholic School and Ascension Catholic Church religious education. Then he will call all catechists/facilitators in any of the other catechetical ministries, including Small Christian Communities.
Next, he will ask parents to stand up in the pews – there is a special blessing for them as the first and foremost teachers in the faith.
Thank you, parents, for all you do!
