The Three Philosophies

Confucianism
Confucianism is based on a guy named Confucius and his teachings. He was born in 500 B.C. in a farming family. He was born in a time where the kings fought for power. He wanted people to follow their Ancestors beliefs. He believed it would bring peace. Duty is the main idea of Confucianism. It means that a person will put other people's needs in front of their own. Confucius taught well and Confucianism was born.
Daoism
Daoism also helped the society become peaceful. Dao means "path" and is sometimes translated as "the way." Daoism has the ideas of Laozi, who was believed to be born at the same time as Confucius. Daoism teaches how to live a good life. Daoists want everybody to not be tempted by the world's pleasures and to live a simple life. Confucianism and Daoism are different because Confucianism teaches you to work hard to make the world a better place while Daoism teaches you to be one with nature and not give in to the worldly affairs. People believed that the two supported each other.
Legalism
Legalism showed the importance of laws and following them. A thinker named Han Feizi brought the idea of Legalism in 200 B.C. Han Feizi thought humans were evil, unlike Confucius and Laozi. Strict laws made people do their duty. A lot of Aristocrats liked Legalism because it provided force. It didn't need rulers to punish people harshly for small crimes.
