Week of Respect - Beach Day
A Message from the Principal's Desk:
Greetings Kingsway Community,
We hope that everyone enjoyed the much-needed Fall Break with family and friends! October was a jam-packed month as our kids participated in state testing, Kingsway Idol, and the 7th Grade Back to School Dance. Throughout the month, we averaged between 200-250 students after school each day; between the clubs, sports, the play, and wellness activities, students have found ways to get involved in our school community. Additionally, we celebrated and highlighted the Week of Respect, Violence Awareness Week, and Red Ribbon Week; hopefully, the students grabbed a hold of a few key takeaways from the month.
November will mark the midway point of the semester. Students will be encouraged to submit their paperwork for the mid semester Renaissance check-in; "Midi-Celebration". A small-scale celebration will be held for those who are on pace to be a Renaissance cardholder. We are proud to announce that we have several key guests lined up for Career Day on November 24th. Finally, we are excited to see our students on stage for the first time in two years for our school play. Have a great month of November!

How to Help: Each stage of parenthood presents its unique challenges. Guiding our teenagers through their middle school years can be an overwhelming and daunting task. At times they struggle to stay organized, to advocate for themselves, or to know how to study for an upcoming exam. As parents, we know that there is not one single formula or a set of directions to help our children through these critical years, but we seek out any tips and advice we can find with the ultimate goal being our child’s success. Outlined below are tips you can utilize to assist your child through his/her middle school journey as well as a link to an article entitled, “10 Ways to Help Your Middle School Child Succeed”.
1. Encourage your child to advocate for himself/herself. Asking questions about a grade, posing a clarifying question, or talking to their teacher after class about a situation are all part of the maturation process and help to set our children up for future success in all that they encounter.
2. Encourage your child to reassess when he/she scores below an 83 on any secondary assessment in any class.
3. Have frequent conversations with your child about what he/she is learning in his/her classes and how he/she performed on his/her last assessment.
4. Look at the KRMS website to target clubs/activities of interest and make arrangements for your child to stay after school. Getting involved always pays off!
5. Encourage the use of our Math Working Lunch Program. This program was designed to help clarify daily mathematical concepts.
