You Helped Us Make a World of Difference
As we close the 2021-2022 school year, know that we couldn't have had such a memorable year without your partnership. We've worked diligently at building relationships with your students, challenging them and encouraging them academically, supporting them through the admittedly tough but exciting adolescent years, and celebrating their successes. Here are just a few highlights from the year in the Ridgeview United Community:
Our 1st annual Ridgeview United Music Festival and Hispanic Heritage Dinner welcomed hundreds of people for fellowship, food, and beautiful music.
- 8th grader April Nares Perez attained a $10,000 REACH scholarship to college.
- Boy’s A-team Basketball won the Metro Atlanta Athletic Conference (MAAC) Division I Championship against The Epstein School.
- Japanese and French language students had show-stopping performances at the FCS Lingaupalooza Contest receiving superior (the highest) ratings in language proficiency.
- 8th graders Maxwell Cleveland and Mason Below won 3rd Place in the Fulton County Regional Science Fair Junior Competition and went on to earn ribbons at the Georgia Science and Engineering Fair at the University of Georgia.
- PTA awarded over $12,000 in classroom mini grants to support teachers doing innovative and special things for students, and 100% of our faculty crossed the finish line to join PTA.
- We were recognized as a No Place for Hate school by the Anti Defamation League and a Be the Voice School. We provided advocacy and voice to students while fostering an inclusive, safe environment.
- Our students showed incredible year-end growth in iReady reading at 65% on grade level and math at 57% on grade level, achieving and beating our annual goals in both areas.
- Girls softball players finished as runners-up in the MAAC this fall.
- The Foundation held a successful parent party bringing over 250 parents and staff members together to raise funds for free music and athletic offerings to students.
- Boys A-team soccer finished as runners-up in the MAAC this fall.
- Our student organizations put on IB service learning drives including supplies for Haiti, medical items for Ukraine, and school supplies for Solidarity Sandy Springs.
- The music programs saw almost straight superior (the highest) ratings after two years of students not having consistent playing experiences, and the programs continued to be a driver to our Ridgeview United efforts.
- We were re-designated as a nationally recognized Georgia Lighthouse School To Watch through 2025 for academic excellence, social development, developmental responsiveness, and organizational processes.
- We’re being considered for designation as one of Association of Middle Level Educators new “Schools of Distinction” based on their characteristics of a Successful Middle School.
- We finished our year in community and fun with the 36th annual RCMS Olympic Games.
Join us in also celebrating that our Ridgeview Panthers are well-positioned for high school success. 2022 Riverwood Valedictorian Andrew Wyatt and Salutatorian Taylor Goldman are proud RCMS alumni, and 8 of the top 10 senior students at Riverwood in their graduating class are Ridgeview alumni.
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff, it's been our honor and privilege to be trusted adults for your children and you. This summer we'll be eagerly preparing to welcome our Panthers and parents on August 4th for Panther Peek. For our 8th graders - we're eagerly awaiting your future successes as proud former Panthers.
Thanks, as always, for your support. I hope you enjoy summertime.
