Peterson's News
3/18-3/29
Good evening,
Congratulations to our Spirit Day Winners!! Mrs. Ammons' room does it again, they are our primary winner and Mrs. Shelbrock is the intermediate winner!! Congratulations to both classes and thanks to everyone who are participated!
Thank you for making sure your car line numbers are posted in the front window or on the dashboard. Displaying the number helps to make our car line more efficient. A few families have asked for an easy way to do so that isn't permanent. At our PTA meeting this week, Mrs. Barentine shared her idea of using a child's hanger for the sign. I've included a picture of it, thank you to her for sharing it!
Next week is Spring Break. There is no school March 25th - 29th. My next newsletter will be shared on Sunday, March 31st. I hope everyone has a wonderful break!!
For those of you who celebrate Easter, I hope it filled with many blessings and joy!!
Tuesday, March 19th e-Learning Day
All IPSD204 buildings are closed on March 19th for election day. Students will attend virtually and it will be an E-Learning Day.
Students should log into their google classrooms and join their google classroom. From their google classroom, they will then use a google meets link to join their class virtually. Students have been practicing this routine so they should be familiar with how to join their class. Here are directions for any parents who may need to support their child with joining their class.
Below is a schedule for the day. Please reach out to your child's teacher should have any questions.
We are hoping to make this a fun day of connection and learning for our students.
Feedback Needed!
District 204 is partnering with Educational Consulting Firm, Burns/Van Fleet, to gather feedback from all stakeholders on our third through fifth grade academically talented programing. Please take a moment to complete the following survey. We are looking for feedback from all families, staff members and students. Participation in our academically talented programing in not needed for survey completion. The survey link will close on Friday, March 22nd. Thank you for considering this opportunity.

21st-Century Classrooms Coming to Peterson!
I wanted to share some exciting news with you regarding our district’s commitment to providing the best learning environments for our students. In our strategic plan, the district expressed its commitment to improving our facilities. As a part of this effort, we are redesigning classrooms to better reflect the needs of 21st-century learners. I am thrilled to inform you that our 5th graders this year and our 4th graders next year will have the amazing opportunity to pilot two of these innovative 21st-century classrooms.
During spring break, Mr. White's and Mrs. Decker's classrooms will undergo transformations. The rooms will be equipped with new lighting featuring dimmable switches, updated flooring, fresh paint, and new seating arrangements conducive to collaborative learning. Each class will have the chance to rotate through these redesigned classrooms, providing valuable feedback on what works well and what can be improved.
I am grateful to our dedicated 5th grade teachers for embracing this initiative, and I am excited about the positive impact it will have on our students. Following spring break, I will share photos of the rooms.
PTA Updates
PTA Hospitality
Throughout the year, the PTA hospitality committee provides a beverage cart, where they deliver teachers and faculty drinks and snacks throughout the year. In connection with Pie Day this week, we also raffled off pies to teachers. The PTA loves brightening the teachers' day with these beverages and snacks!
PTA Funded Gift - Flexible Seating
Through our fundraisers this year we have been able to purchase new flexible seating for all Peterson classrooms! Teachers had the opportunity to select items they wanted for their rooms, and the PTA has already started delivering items to classes. We are grateful for everyone's support to be able to provide this for our school!
