EF Educational Tours- Boston and New York City!
Attention all current 7th and 8th grade students who are interested in travel, adventure, and fun! For the summer of 2022, students will have the chance of a lifetime: a trip to Boston and New York City! Experience the magic of seeing history come alive through the streets where the American Revolution was born. See the sights and hear the sounds of one of America’s largest and most diverse cities all while exploring new and exciting places in the world. Visit the Statue of Liberty, take in a Broadway show, and take a walk around Central Park. Ms. Noltie and Mr. Aulgur from the 8th grade team are chaperoning the trip, and any students in 7th or 8th grade are welcome. We will be having an informational meeting at Gentry in rooms 105 and 107 from 6:00-7:00pm on Tuesday, October 12th. If you have any questions, please contact Ms. Noltie (bnoltie@cpsk12.org) and Mr. Aulgur (daulgur@cpsk12.org)!
*This is not a Gentry or CPS sponsored event, but is organized through the EF Tours organization.
Fun Ways to... Be Involved!
Information on upcoming after school clubs and activities was presented to students this week during advisory classes. We offer a little bit of everything so finding a match for your child should be easy! Please click here to see our complete 2021-22 Clubs and Activities list of all of the fun ways that your child can get involved. Each slide lists the teacher who is sponsoring the club so feel free to reach out to that teacher specifically if you have additional questions.
Please note that due to the current bus driver shortage, STA will not be able to provide an after school activity bus to transport students home after clubs/activities. If your student chooses to participate in an after school club or activity, they will be responsible for securing their own transportation home. Check with the specific club sponsor on the times and dates of each club offering.

Scouts- Escape the Indoors!
This fall we are conducting our annual recruitment drive. If you are unaware, Scouts is a wonderful program that is now open to both young ladies and young men. It provides not only high adventure but amazing leadership and learning experiences for all of our members while at the same time providing youth with positive role models. This year, Troop 706 is excited to have a new sister troop, Troop 523, connected to us. This is a great opportunity for young men and women to cohesively work together and develop the skills to tackle tomorrow’s challenges in an ever changing world.
Currently we have Scouts from multiple different Elementary and Middle schools in Columbia, as well as all 3 major area High Schools. Troops 706 and 523 are not limited to a geographic area and we enjoy a rich diversity of Scouts and their families into our Troop. Our troop is a place where Scouts join and desire to stay involved, over the last 55 years, over 150 Scouts have proudly advanced to the highest honor of Scouts, that of Eagle.
