No School for Students on Friday
Teachers will be reaching out to parents/guardians via email with updates on the classes, the work being completed and the next units. In person meetings at conferences are offered on a drop in basis during 6 PM - 8 PM on Thursday, January 20th.
Please know that masks will be worn at conferences. It is useful to bring your student schedule with teacher names to the conferences.
We will have a map of teacher locations for Thursday evening on our web site and at the doors. We will have student LINK leaders helping with directions for visitors.
On Friday, January 21 our faculty will conduct Zoom meetings with parents/guardians. Some departments and teachers will be in Zoom rooms from 7:30 - 8:30 AM. The other half of the faculty will be in Zoom rooms from 8:30 - 9:30 AM.
We are doing this in order to provide more time for access.
Look for a list of teacher names with their personal Zoom room link - we will send that for use on Friday morning. It will be emailed and also posted on our web site for your use.
Interpreters will be provided - please contact Dr. Tara Hedlund 651-683-6918 or tara.hedlund@district196.org to Reserve a day and time for this service.
COVID-19 Data Shared on Dashboard – Weekly EHS Notification Newsletter Will Cease.
Specific COVID-19 information, including data of student positive cases, school-specific cases, county cases and vaccination rate, is updated weekly on our COVID-19 Dashboard available on all school websites. After this week, school COVID-19 teams will no longer send case notifications to families. Families must maintain personal mitigation efforts, with or without a notification letter, and direct their attention to monitoring symptoms, keeping students home when sick and frequent screening as necessary.
District 196 Notification - Minimum Isolation Period Shortened From 10 Days to 5 Days
Effective immediately, students and employees who test positive are eligible for the shortened isolation period of five days. Isolation may end after five full days if students arefever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medication and their other symptoms have improved. The five-day isolation period starts with day zero being the first day of symptoms OR the day the positive test was taken. If the above requirements are met, the student can return on day six. (i.e. A student testing positive on a Wednesday could return the following Tuesday.)
This is effective beginning Tuesday, January 18th for our students.
Everyone, regardless of vaccination status, is recommended to test regularly, especially if they are participating in in-person learning and co-curricular activities. On-site testing is available for all symptomatic district students and employees at the District Service Center during the week. An appointment is required and can be made by contacting the office at your child’s school. More information is available on the district’s COVID-19 Dashboard.
Be Prepared for Possible Schedule Changes- District 196 Message to Families
Diaper Drive: January 10th – 21st
The Open-Door Pantry in Eagan has an increased need for diapers of all sizes. The pandemic has been very hard on families and a shortage of diapers has become a challenge.
In response to this need, the EHS Interact Club is organizing a diaper drive. This Diaper Drive will take place from January 10th – 21st. You can drop off diapers of any size at both EHS entrances. You will notice tubs and signs posted at both the east and south entrances. You can also drop off donated diapers outside Room 236 (Mr. Wirsbinski’s Room).
This drive has been planned in conjunction with EHS Parent/Teacher Conferences. As you arrive for conferences on January 20th or 21st, you can easily drop off your diapers as you enter school.
In the midst of this pandemic, it is wise to consult the advice of a doctor (Dr. Suess):
“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

Bus Schedules May Change Due to Driver Shortage - District 196 message to families Jan. 5th
Due to the nationwide shortage of bus drivers and absences because of COVID-19, the district faces daily challenges to ensure that bus routes to and from school are covered. These staff shortages may cause sudden bus schedule changes. To stay up to date on your child’s transportation schedule, parents are encouraged to download the mobile app Here Comes The Bus. The app allows parents to monitor arrival and drop-off times of their child’s bus, and is used by the District 196 Transportation Department to communicate directly to parents in real time about delays in bus arrival, bus number changes and more. To set up an account, download Here Comes The Bus and use the school district’s ID number 73500 and your child’s lunch account number/PIN (available in Infinite Campus Parent Portal). Parents can monitor buses for multiple children from a single account. More information can be found at www.District196.org/services/transportation/here-comes-the-bus.
