March 2024
Developing student-focused pathways for a lifetime of opportunities through
innovation, exploration, and community partnerships.
Message from the Program Director
Hi CLA families,
It is an honor to serve our scholars and the larger CLA community. One of the things that I love most about what we do at CLA is "developing student-focused pathways for a lifetime of opportunities." As we build our processes and make changes to improve, we gather input from scholars, parents, and staff about our scholars' experiences and then make decisions that are best for scholars long-term. We want to see our scholars thrive in life, not only to the graduation stage. YOU are a crucial piece of that process!
As we move into March, we will be looking for parent/family input at our monthly CIP meeting, parent-teacher conferences, and a family survey. Please know that input and feedback are valued and appreciated and used to make decisions that impact our scholars for a lifetime.
Make sure to sign up for Spring Conferences with your scholar's Advisor below.
Serving with gratitude,
Jennifer Evans

Additional Supports
Academic Review
Every 3 weeks, CLA staff reviews scholar academic progress school-wide. We call this Academic Review. As we review the academic data, we look for ways to celebrate and to support our scholars. We also take this time to communicate with parents as needed. We encourage families to take notes of these dates as well. You can use these dates to celebrate and support your scholar too!
As part of this process, scholars in need of additional support, may be placed on an Academic Plan of Assistance, requiring daily on-campus attendance.
The next Academic Review dates are:
- Friday, March 8th
- Friday, May 3rd
TutorMe
Our school is proud to announce that we’ve teamed up with TutorMe to offer 24/7 online tutoring to all students!
TutorMe is a place where our students can build the connections they need to learn and thrive. Through TutorMe, students connect with a tutor who’s an exact match for what they’re looking for – whether you’re stumped by an algebra equation, craving a confidence boost, or looking for an extra challenge.
Friday Support and Enrichment
Support: All teachers will be available for tutoring Friday afternoons from 1:00-3:30
Enrichment: Beginning in October, CLAHS will offer a hands-on or experiential learning opportunities each Friday for scholars who would like to sign up.

Stay Connected
Parent support is invaluable! Although they may not always act like it, your high school student needs you now more than ever. CLA wants to help you keep that connection. Parents have found great success using the Canvas Parent App and the Crater Lake Academy App.
Canvas Parent App
We encourage our parents to download the Canvas Parent App to stay connected to student assignments, grades, and announcements.
