ACURIL EXECUTIVE IN TAMPA UPDATES
PREPARE YOUR SUITCASES TO ATTEND THE CONFERENCE IN 2020
ACURIL’s Executive Council members and guests met at the Shimberg Health Sciences Library, University of South Florida, December 5-6, 2019.
A most productive Council meeting took place at the Shimberg Health Sciences Library, of the University of South Florida, in Tampa. The excellent coordination for the meeting was made by Dr. Ardis Hanson, ACURIL Parliamentarian. ACURIL’s Executive is most grateful to Mrs. Rose Bland, the Shimberg’s Library Director, for the opportunity given to meet at the premises.

The Executive Agenda
The agenda included reports from the ARUBA 2019 conference; the coordination of the forthcoming BAHAMAS 2020 and prospective JAMAICA 2021 conferences. A preliminary working session was devoted to the Constitution and ByLaws for which amendments will be presented in the future to the General Assembly, for due consideration .
An Update of ACURIL 2020 BAHAMAS conference theme was presented by Dr. Berthamae Walker, ACURIL President
The conference theme Design Thinking in Libraries,Archives and Museums: Revolutionizing the Way we do Business, was selected by ACURIL President Dr. Berthamae Walker, Director of the University of the Bahamas Libraries.
As stated by Tim Brown, Executive Chair of IDEO, "Design thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer's toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements of business success." https://designthinking.ideo.com/
The Conference sub-themes are:

The Call for Abstracts: papers, workshops and research posters presentations has been extended until December 20, 2019: https://www.smore.com/mznp7-acuril-2020-call-extended Members and interested information professionals are cordially invited to present their research endeavors or experiences applying the theme.
Mrs. Dorcas Bowler, Local Organizing Committee Coordinator, gave an update of the forthcoming activities
Mrs. Dorcas Bowler, Director of the Bahamas National Library and Information Services, and Local Organizing Committee Coordinator, is planning activities to stimulate and provide a relaxed atmosphere for all participants.
The Atlantis Resort, Beach Towers has been changed to the beautiful Atlantis Resort, The Beach, and Its costs are as follows:
- Single standard room is $187.93 USD per night inclusive of taxes, resort fees and other fees
- Double standard room is 194.53 USD per night inclusive of taxes, resort fees and other fees as broken down in the attached sheet.
- A onetime bellman fee of $6.00 USD(Single) and $12.00 USD (Double).
