Husky Happenings
September 3-8
From Mr. Martin
Our previous topics have dealt with establishing expectations. I am going to add routines. Now that we are well into the year, it is predictable what will happen and when it will happen. Our school runs with efficiency. Students are assigned roles, bell work is the same everyday, we run our school based on a bell schedule, arrival and dismissal are the same….all these are routines. I bring this up because you should have similar routines at home that support what we do at school. Ex. You lay your clothes out for the day, you set an alarm, you spend time reading, you spend time talking with your child about their day …..

Husky Pack Program
As we begin the 2018-19 school year we look to continue the Husky PACK (Peer Acceptance Caring and Kindness) program. We are excited to add new members this year along with working alongside last years members.
For information contact the counseling office.
From Nurse Rhea
Please continue to send your students updated immunization records to the office. We still have 36 non-compliant students. Feel free to reach out to me if you are unsure of what is needed. Exclusion date for these immunizations is October 23, 2018. Any student still missing immunizations on this date will not be allowed to attend school.
Remember that Allergy/Cold Medications are NOT kept in the health room. Please dose your student for these symptoms prior to the start of the school day. Also, if your student plays sports and has sore muscles, a dose of ibuprofen before school will last thru the school day as well. Our primary goal is to keep students in class as much as possible.
Hearing and Vision Screenings are scheduled to take place on October 9th and 11th. Fifth/Seventh graders will have hearing screenings and Sixth/Eighth graders will have vision screenings. If you do not want your student to participate, please contact the office before October 9th. If your student has had their hearing screened by an audiologist within the last year, please send in a copy of their audiogram. This will take the place of their screening.
Please feel free to call the office if you have any questions or concerns.
FCA
FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) WILL BE MEETING EVERY WEDNESDAY MORNING FROM 7:30-8:00 IN MR. SMITH'S ROOM IN THE 8TH GRADE HALLWAY.
FROM THE HIGH SCHOOL...
From the High School:
Student Behavior Expectations at GEHS Events: Gardner Edgerton High School is excited to invite PRMS, TRMS, and WMS students to all of the outstanding athletic competitions that the high school has to offer. However, it is expected that middle school students abide by the following expectations while attending events at the high school:
1. Students are expected to sit on the bleachers that have been designated for the middle school students. This year, during the football season, seating will be on the north west corner of the football field in the lower rows of bleachers. Failure to sit in the designated areas will result in students having to be seated with their parents or, if no parent is present, being removed from the game.
2. No students will be allowed to play on the grass or sidewalk around the stadium. If found in these areas, students will be asked to sit with their parents or, if no parent is present, you will be removed from the game.
3. School-appropriate behavior is expected from student attendees. Any student caught using foul language and/or participating in actions deemed inappropriate by any Gardner Edgerton district staff member will be removed from the game.
The Gardner Edgerton High School staff thanks all students in advance for their cooperation and compliance with their expectations presented in this letter. We look forward to having you at the games to cheer on the Blazers!
Little Blazers Cheer Clinic
On Wednesday, September 19th, we will host the clinic at GEHS from 5:30 pm-8:00 pm. Check In will be from 5:00 pm-5:30 pm in the Auxiliary Gym at GEHS. The cheerleaders will teach our Little Blazers chants, cheers and safe stunting.
On Friday, September 21st, the Little Blazers will attend the home football game versus Olathe East High School. They will be cheering on the track with the high school cheerleaders during the first quarter of the game.
