The Buzz...from the Busy Bees
Mrs. Slominsky's Class 2015-2016
April 11-15
I hope you are all enjoying your weekend! Last week there was an incorrect date on my newsletter. I apologize to the families who showed up for All Pro Dad to realize that it wasn't, in fact, on the 7th. The date for the event was changed on Monday, and unfortunately, it wasn't communicated to teachers that the date changed. Sorry!
This is going to be a busy, but short, week! There is no school for students this Friday, April 15th. Third through fifth grade students will be taking the MAP test, so our schedule is VERY different this week including some of our special classes and lunch.
This week's schedule:
Monday - 10:00-11:00 am Library and Counselor *Please send LIBRARY BOOKS ON MONDAY! Lunch - 12:20-12:50
Tuesday - 10:00-11:00 am PE, Music
Wednesday - 10:00-11:00 Art
Thursday - 1:30-2:30 Counselor, Computer
Friday - No School!
Thank you for your patience with our schedule change. We are so excited for our 3-5 graders to show what they know on the MAP test!

This week's lesson focus will be on Excellent Endings. We'll learn some great strategies for bringing our stories to an end.
1. Ask a question (Ex: Did you have fun learning about __________?, Do you like _______ as much as I do?)
2. Tie-up (That is why _________ is the best!, My trip to the beach was a blast!)
3. Cliffhanger (I guess we'll never know for sure why...)
Math Workshop
First Grade - We are going to wrap up our telling time to the hour and half hour this week. Students are doing great with time on the hour, but we need a bit more practice with half hour. This week we'll be using a great digital tool called nearpod during our small group. We will also tie our telling time lessons into our science unit on Day/Night.
