Scheduling
The Counseling Department has begun meeting with students to review course recommendations for the 2024-2025 school year. Students will make course requests with their Counselors only for electives. Teachers will be making course request for the following courses:
ELA * Social Studies * Math * Science * LOTE * Physical Education
Students are recommended to have conversations with their teachers regarding these selections. Students are also strongly urged to review PHS course catalog for course descriptions and pre- requisites.

Financial Aid Application Deadlines
To be considered for federal student aid for the 2023–24 award year, you can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form between Dec. 1, 2023, and 11:59 p.m. Central time (CT) on June 30, 2024. Any FAFSA corrections or updates must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. CT on Sept. 14, 2024.
NOTE: Each college may have its own deadline. Check with the college(s) you’re interested in attending. You may also want to ask your college about its definition of an application deadline.
Ask: Is it the date your FAFSA form is processed or the date the college receives your processed FAFSA data?

Marking Period Dates
3rd Quarter begins on January 29, 2024 and ends on April 19, 2024.
4th Quarter begins on April 22, 2024 and ends on June 26, 2024.
Night School
- The spring semester for night school is just around the corner. Take advantage of recovering your credits lost from failing a class by seeing your school counselor as soon as possible.
- The spring night school session will start in March 11th, 2024 and end in June 2024. Classes are scheduled to be held on Monday & Wednesday evenings from 3:00PM-5:30PM.
- If you have any additional questions please contact Mr. Cabassa the night school administrator at ext. 3517 or Mrs. Gilchrest the night school counselor at ext. 3515.
National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
All student athletes are recommended to take challenging classes that are approved by the NCAA. Visit our PHS Course Catalog or visit the NCAA High School Portal to see approved courses.
Seniors interested in playing a sport at a Division I or II college should register at eligiblitycenter.org to register with the NCAA Eligibility Center.
If any students are planning to attend a Division III School, they can create a free Profile Page at eligiblitycenter.org to learn more about college sports.
Any student interested in attending a NCAA Division I, II or III school should also make an appointment to see Mr. Fernandez, jfernandez2@peekskillschools.org.
Elton Brand
The program runs Monday - Friday when school is in session. The program is from 3:00PM-4:30PM each day. Students are provided academic support, enrichment opportunities and also SAT test prep. SAT test Prep will be offered twice a week (English and Mathematics). If you have more than one child in PHS, please complete a separate form for each child.
Regents Prep Schedule -Spring 2024
Regents prep available to students taking the June Regents Exams.
Prep sessions will be Monday- Thursday 3:00 PM-5:00 PM.

Important College Terms
Safety School:
A school you will certainly get into. Your GPA & SAT/ACT Scores are higher than what the school is looking for.
Target School:
A school you have a good chance of getting into. Your GPA & SAT/ACT Scores are within the range of what the school is looking for.
Reach School:
Your GPA & SAT/ACT Scores are lower compared to the school’s requirements.
Early Decision; Binding Contract:
If a student is accepted, they must attend.
Early Action:
Non-Binding-Students receive a decision letter beginning of January, if not sooner.
Rolling Admissions:
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis-Decision letters are sent out 3-4 weeks after applications are received.
Regular Decision:
Generally, the deadline is around January 1st. Differs depending on the school.
