Principal's Page
Jesse Boyd Elementary School ~~~~ May 18, 2019
Greetings from Dr. Rose
We are all looking forward to field day on Friday. Coach B and Coach K do an extraordinary job each year putting this event together for our students. As always should you have any questions concerning anything in the Principal's Page, please feel free to contact us at JBE.
FIELD DAY
Currently the weather is looking great for Friday; however, it will be hot. Students will have three stations in which they will rotate with their communities. A detailed map of activities and a schedule of rotations will be emailed to parents later this week. These will also be placed on our social media pages.
We are super excited that our Boosterthon team will be at field day running the games and building enthusiasm at one of the stations. Another station will have activities that will involve water-no swimming, but students may get wet. Students will not have access to locker rooms therefore it is important that students come dressed for the events. Students will not be allowed to wear bathing suits-nor will they really need them. At the final station, our parent volunteers will run the events. Parents who have volunteered for class helpers will be emailed the instructions for running these events.
Our PTSO will provide a snack and water to the students at one of the stations. It is important ,especially due to the high temperatures expected on Friday, that students bring their own water bottles. You may also want to put sunscreen on your students. Wearing hats to field day is acceptable.
Finally, many parents choose to take students home from Spartanburg High School. This is absolutely acceptable; however, in order to take your student from SHS, you'll need to sign them out from the "concession" stand area in the middle of the three fields.
Thanks in advance for helping us make this an incredible FIELD DAY!!!!!!
FIELD DAY SET UP and CLEAN UP
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Boosterthon at Field Day
One of the reasons our PTSO loves Boosterthon is because of the giving nature of their organization. This year, Boosterthon is raising money for Children's Miracle Network. More information about this will be coming to you this week.

Announcements on Road Construction
As District 7 enters the final phase of construction for the new Spartanburg High School, located at 2250 East Main Street and scheduled to open in August, we want our neighborhoods, community and nearby businesses to be aware of what will be taking place in the coming weeks.
A key component of the project includes enhancements and upgrades to the roadways along East Main Street and Plainview Drive. Preliminary work has begun in preparation for this project. Throughout the roadwork process, all lanes will remain open between 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Brief lane closures may occur during other times until the school opens in August.
Change in Next Year's Traffic Pattern at JBE
The new student cross walk will be closer to the area where our cars turn into the school to enter the car rider line.
The SC DOT, city, district, and school officials have held several meetings. This plan is very helpful in making our arrival and dismissal for our students, and families safer.
INFOSNAP
Students will not receive their blue teacher card in June until the INFOSNAP is completed.
