BCE Bear Mail
Friday April 26th.
Message from Principal Fippin
Hello BCE Community
Thank you to Mrs. Hayes and team for our new weather station. It is such a great addition to our science program. Thank you for going the extra mile.
Mrs. Thomas and students put on a wonderful performance this week. So great to see the students in action and shining on the stage.
We had a wonderful awards assembly this morning. I just love it when our entire school can come together. We celebrated Responsibility. Thank you to the parents that could also join us.
I wanted to ensure everyone, that we are working closely with the district office to ensure we have all that is needed while we are in flux with water. The supplies will remain on campus till we have been ensure all the water projects have been completed.
Next Thursday is Open House. I hope everyone can attend. Details of events below.
A big shout out to our very own Mrs. Brown in Room 14. She was named IA of the year from the County Office SELPA this week for her dedication to students, hard work and always having a smile and positive attitude. Thank you Mrs. Brown for being a BCE Bear with us.
We have had several parents arriving before 7:45 in the morning. Please note that the campus is closed to all, except teh YMCA before 7:45. At pick up time, if you arrive 15 minutes before your student is out, we need you to sign in at the office for safety reason. Please not that you are not to be by the classroom more than 15 minutes before dismissal.
Have a wonderful weekend. 28 Instructional Days of school left :) Count down is on

BCE Pollinator Garden and Native Restoration Project
BCE is excited to announce that we have started the process of planning and planting a native pollinator garden!
We are working with the Valley Women’s Club to restore the land and garden near the accessible ramps and under the redwood trees across from the Kindergarten buildings. This will happen in several phases.
Phase 1 in spring will include removal of the nonnative bushes in that area and prepping the soil. Removal of the bushes will happen on Saturday, May 27th. Things will look a bit different on Monday morning! In May, 4th grade classes will help prepare the soil for fall planting.
We look forward to all the learning opportunities for students at BCE in this project.

Attendance
As you know, attendance is extremely important. That said, we understand children get sick and may miss some school. We notice some students are missing an excessive amount of school due to illness.
If your student is out for more than three days we do require a doctor's note. You can scan & send the document to our health aide, Kat, at kgafford@slvusd.org. You can send a screenshot to (831) 252-1491 or you can bring the document to us in person.
This is extremely important so please save the paperwork from any of your appointments and submit that documentation in a timely fashion. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
