As always, we can't wait to see what amazing things happen next week in everyone's classrooms.

Solar Eclipse Monday, April 8th
Please go over expectations with your children beforehand. It's crucial to remind children not to look directly at the sun during the eclipse without proper eye protection. Thanks to the generous support of our PTO we will be providing solar eclipse glasses for students, and we ask that you reinforce the importance of using them.
We will be taking them outside at 3 p.m. for a viewing. Any student not wishing to go outside, can remain indoors in the cafeteria.

Report cards are now available on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. https://nfps.powerschool.com/public/
Parent Placement Input Form
We are beginning the process of determining class placements for the 2024-2025 school year.
The placement process involves an extensive team including classroom teachers, special area teachers, related service providers, interventionists, and administrators. It is always helpful to share this process with parents who can provide information about their children’s strengths, interests, and needs. This information, combined with our knowledge of instructional styles of teachers, helps us to best place students.
Therefore, we invite you to provide us with information about the kind of learning experiences and teaching styles to which you feel your son or daughter will best respond. We are not however, able to consider requests for particular teachers.
All placement input will be provided/collected using this Parent Placement Google Form. We will only consider input submitted through this electronic form.
Input must be submitted no later than Friday, April 19th.
If you have more than one child attending Consolidated or MHHS, please submit a separate response for each.
Please be aware that all classrooms are heterogeneous environments, meaning that children of varied abilities are assigned to each class. Since the process is extensive, involving teacher and parent input, once rosters are finalized there will be no changes in placement.
Kindly,
Mrs. Story, Mr. Spino, Dr. Hilderbrand, Mrs. Rufini & Ms. Misuraca
Attendance Information
Dear Amazing Consolidated & Meeting House Hill School Families
We hope this letter finds you and your family well as we transition into the new calendar year. As we commence the second half of the school year, we’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support as we continue to streamline our attendance procedures.
We have recently added a feature to PowerSchool that parents/guardians can use to report their child(ren) absent. If your child is absent or will be absent from school, you can log into the PowerSchool parent portal to enter the reason for your absence. Attached are step-by-step instructions to help you navigate the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
***PowerSchool Attendance Portal Directions***
Important things to know:
Once you submit your child(ren) absence and reason, you cannot change it.
If you need to make a change, you can email or call one of the school nurses for help.
In addition to PowerSchool, you can call the school nurse to report an absence. Please call Mrs. Stephanie Campbell (Grades 3 -5) at 203-312-5912 or Mrs. Virginia Landaverde (Grades PK - 2) by 10:00 am. Students are marked absent if they do not attend for 50% of the school day.
Attendance Reminders:
After an absence of three consecutive days or more, a doctor’s note is required.
After nine days of absence, a doctor’s note is required for every additional absence during the school year.
If a student has four unexcused absences in a month or ten unexcused absences in a year, your child will be considered truant by the state of CT.
A school attendance committee monitors students' absences and may schedule a meeting if your child is truant or chronically absent.
Please be aware that the State Board of Education attendance guideline states
that a child must be present for at least half of their school day to be considered present.
*ATTENDANCE OF STUDENTS (BOE Policy 5113, 5113.2)
