BMES Family Weekly Update
Week of February 6- February 12, 2022
Message from Principal Wagner
February 6, 2022
Good evening BMES families,
This week is another full week of teaching and learning at Bethel Manor. Our students are working hard in this quarter of their school year. I have some newly developed updates to share regarding arrival and dismissal.
This past week, we were made aware of the construction that begins Monday at the Langley Housing Chapel. This construction will impact our student's arrival and dismissal locations because we believe that Langley will be closing off access to the chapel parking lot. If this is the case, we ask for your patience as we attempt to aid in vehicle and foot traffic. If you can walk rather than drive when picking up your child, it is recommended because of the lack of parking that might be available.
We are asking parents to use the 2 way crosswalk at dismissal in front of the Langley Chapel Annex building to gain access to BMES rather than using the chapel parking lot. In addition, we are asking that if you drive, please honor the flow of the BMES school parking lot during arrival and dismissal. Please come into the parking lot at the gate closest to Big Bethel Rd and exit through the gate closest to chapel. These entrances are not 2 way entrances so please enter and exit accordingly adhering to the signage.
Starting tomorrow, our Kindergarten students will be dismissed out the front door rather than door B1. Please plan to meet your child's kindergarten teacher by their dismissal sign on the front sidewalk immediately out the front door. All kindergarten teachers will share class specific information as well with parents. Parents, please share this information with any caregiver as well as older siblings that come to their Kindergarten sibling for pick-up.
This Thursday, all students will be coming home with their Quarter 2 report card. Please don't forget to sign the report card envelope and return to your child's teacher on Friday.
Lastly, if you want your child to join the BMES staff for Football Friday, please send your child to school wearing their favorite sport team on 2/11. We will be celebrating the upcoming Super Bowl with staff and students.
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Wagner

Free Tutoring
As part of the division's efforts to address unfinished learning in accordance with the ARP Act ESSER III funds, the York County School Division has partnered with FEV Tutor to provide students in grades 3-12 with free, 1:1 online tutoring. In addition to supporting coursework and homework in core subjects such as math, English/Language Arts, science and social studies, FEV Tutor offers support for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) courses.
Along with the on-demand support, FEV Tutor also offers weekly sessions between 7 and 10 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on weekends so families can select the times that work best for their schedule. To get started with e-tutoring, students should log in to Clever and locate the FEV Tutor app icon to get started. They can then schedule sessions and access live help at any time of the day.
While all support is live and personalized to each student's classes and needs, the program does not involve device cameras or microphones - instead all interactions involve a whiteboard and chat feature. Students will be able to share their screens and upload documents to review with tutors, and tutors only have access to student work provided by the individual student. Once a student is signed up for weekly sessions, FEV Tutor may periodically email families and students (aged 13 and older).
