From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents/Guardians,
We met yesterday for our first faculty meeting of the year. It was so nice to be able to come together as a faculty and share ideas across grade levels and learn from each other. Unfortunately, most of our meeting revolved around COVID in the hopes that every adult in the building was on the same page with the requirements handed down to us by the Hamilton County Health Department. Please see the COVID section below for important changes to school quarantines. During our time, we had some great discussions and created grade level plans that will allow us to be prepared in the future if needed.
Leaving the meeting, I could not help but feel sad for our children. I wish so badly that they did not have to deal with this during their elementary years, and I look forward to a time where life can go back to normal. Since there is no magical solution, we as a faculty will keep working day in and day out to provide an in-person education for our children. This pandemic is causing unbelievable stress for many; therefore, we must lean on each other during these times. I hope that when you see someone who is struggling that you offer a helping hand, share some kind words, or just give them a boost to brighten their day. We are all in this together, and we will make it through.
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

COVID Updates
Hamilton County Health Department has released a new flowchart to explain who should be quarantined during a classroom exposure to COVID-19. Please review the attached PDF as a family. This chart will be used from here on out for exposures in the classroom. Some notable changes that I would like to draw your attention to:
Hamilton County is now saying that any unvaccinated student who is determined to be a close contact within 3 feet will need to quarantine regardless if they are wearing a mask or not.
All vaccinated students, regardless of distance, will just need to self-monitor for symptoms. However, St. John’s will still be requiring close contacts that are vaccinated to wear a mask for 14 days after the exposure.
A couple of reminders,
If anyone in your house has tested positive for COVID, family members will need to quarantine for 10 days from the last contact with the positive case.
If anyone in the household is being tested for COVID we ask that you keep all unvaccinated students home until the results come back.
