Spring Run 3-5 STEAM Club
February 8, 2016
Challenges!!!
So far the students have been busy:
- building parachutes to help their gummy bears watch the sunset
- creating musical instruments and creating a song
- experimenting with static electricity and participating in soda can races
- working together as a team with new friends
- having a blast!!!!
Thank you for sending in all the supplies for our challenges! This couldn't be done without your support! Please see the many pictures and videos below of all we have been doing.
STEAM Mania!!!
Students will be receiving a permission slip this week to participate in the Steam Mania event at the Science Museum of Virginia. Each child selected a first, second, and third choice of challenge he/she would like to participate in that day. It is very important that once a child commits that he/she shows up. The group is depending on him/her. Your family is invited to explore the museum for free that day also!!! I have attached a link of information for you:

Please return the permission slip to your child's teacher as soon as possible so that we may plan.
Upcoming Meetings
Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 18th. We will be exploring weather this challenge. Thank you for all the supplies that have been sent in for this challenge.
In March we will be meeting for 3 Thursdays in a row to prepare for the STEAM Mania competition. These weeks we will be working on a social studies challenge and art challenge. There will be a Sign Up Genius coming out soon for those challenges.
STEAM T-Shirts
We would like all of the students to wear our school STEAM t-shirts for the competition. They are black and have our school's STEAM logo on it. If your child doesn't have one, they are for sale at the school spirit store for $7.00 each. We will place another order soon if the school store runs out.
