LPSD GT Program
Our students will become responsible and effective leaders
Welcome to the Lonoke GT Program
This first nine weeks has flown by and now we are settling into fall. I want to take a minute to welcome each of you to the GT program for the 2019-20 year. It is going to be an exciting year filled with firsts and new learning opportunities. This will be the first of many newsletters that I will be sending home with the students. I hope you find them informative and helpful with your child's gifted education. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.
5th Grade
5th grade is diving into Forensic Science this semester. Thus far they have learned the vocabulary used in the forensic lab, comparing pieces of evidence, and analyzing the details. We will continue our study as we learn how to take and compare fingerprints, use a microscope, and even learn about blood typing. If you have any experience in this area and would like to contribute to our unit, please contact me.
4th Grade
4th Grade is digging up the skills to survive in any situation. They have learned the basics of needing shelter, food, and water in every setting. Now they are working on independent projects that highlight survival in 12 different natural disasters or settings. They will be presenting these when completed. If you have experience with surviving nature's wrath, we'd love to hear from you.
.
3rd grade
As they new kids in gifted education, the 3rd graders are learning about learning. They will be looking at all the learning styles, find out how they each learn, and how to apply skills to optimized their learning. Then we will take a close look at the brain and how it works to help us learn. If you'd like to help us learn more about the brain, let us know.
