4-H Fair Ambassadors
In 2023 Becker County 4-H members will have a new and unique opportunity. The 4-H Fair Ambassadors will be a group of dedicated youth age 14-19 that is interested in leadership, communication skills, public speaking, and of course the Becker County Fair. We will start meeting in the late spring and learn some awesome "soft skills" and then put them to the test as we assist with the Becker County Fair. Details and a signup will be sent out in the next few weeks.

Market Beef & Dairy Steer Weigh In
Two locations and times available:
10am - 11am @ the Doug Ulmer Farm (15716 Co Hwy 1- Lake Park)
1pm - 2pm @ the Shawn Eckert Farm (36860 Rethwisch Lane- Frazee)
If you are showing market beef or dairy steers at the county fair, please bring your animals to one of these locations. If you do not bring your animal to one of these checkpoints, please contact the Beef Project Leader to set up a time for a home visit or alternative to verify the animals are properly ID’d by the deadline (February 15, 2022).
Why participate?
- Your market animal’s Rate of Gain needs to be determined for the Livestock Auction Record
- Rate of Gain recognition and awards will be given at the fair
- Proper identification of your market animal needs to be verified
Why is rate of gain important?
- Faster growth means that the animal achieves market weight in the shortest amount of time using the least amount of feed so that the highest price can be received. In most livestock species, the most cost-efficient feed conversion and the highest average daily gain are the primary factors determining efficiency of production.

Education First Student Exchange
Education First Exchange students come from thirteen different countries around the world including three Asian countries and countries all over Western Europe. By hosting, families are inviting cultural enrichment into their homes, schools, and communities. Families of all shapes and sizes benefit from the experience. We have 3,000 families all over the nation including single parents, empty nesters, families with young children, LGBTQIA+ households, and everything in between. Not only does it expose the family members to another culture, it can also foster lifelong bonds that reach all over the globe. Host family is responsible for three meals a day, a place to sleep (can share a bedroom w/a sibling of same gender & similar age) and some transportation to activities. Students are 15-18 yrs old, will have their own health insurance and spending money.
If you are interested in learning more about hosting or visit our website at efexchangeyear.org. You can also contact Kris directly for any interest, questions, at kris.demattos@ef.com or (617) 619-1423.
