Counseling Department Updates
Apply for HOPE Scholarship
If you have not completed the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), please do so as soon as possible. Colleges need the information to determine eligibility for grants, loans, and work-study programs. Check with the colleges your student has applied to see the date by which FAFSA needs to be completed.
Although the HOPE and Zell Miller are included in the FAFSA application, Georgia Student Finance Commission suggests applying for this scholarship by completing the Georgia Student Financial Aid Application System (GSFAPPS). The deadline to apply for the HOPE/Zell Miller is the last day of school. To access GSFAPPS, an applicant must go through www.gafutures.org.
Zell Miller Applicants - Test Scores Needed
For Georgia High School graduates and home study completers (from accredited schools and programs), the Zell Miller Scholarship's initial academic requirement includes an acceptable ACT or SAT score. You can now upload SAT or ACT documents to the Georgia Student Finance Commission (GSFC).
To upload your SAT or ACT score report using the GAfutures' Document Upload feature:
- Print your test score report from ACT’s website or College Boards website for the SAT.
- Sign, date, and write this statement on the report: "This is a true and exact copy of the original score report."
- Sign in to your GAfutures account and select Document Upload, located on the page's left-hand side.
- Select the ACT scores or SAT scores document type based on the type of report you are uploading. (acceptable file types are: pdf, jpg, jpeg, png, bmp, gif, tiff)
- Attach your document file and select the submit button.
Georgia students can track their "My High School Hope GPA" through their GAfutures account. The site display when an acceptable test score is received. Once a document is uploaded, the average review time is seven to ten business days. Note: First-semester transcript grades will be recalculated by GSFC and available to view at the end of February.
Junior Meetings with Counselors
Each year, counselors meet with our juniors and their parents/guardians to discuss graduation requirements and plan next year's classes. Parents/guardians and juniors can begin making these appointments in February and will conclude mid-April. Each family can schedule one meeting per student and will last 30 minutes. Students are required to attend, and parents/guardians are invited.
Face to face students can come to the Counseling Office at their appointment time, but all parents must use TEAMS to join the meeting. A link to Teams will be sent after an appointment is scheduled. Please share with all parents/guardians and the student to attend.
Please view the informational presentation before attending the meeting. Also, before this meeting, students must complete these Naviance Tasks:
- Complete SuperMatch College Search and save at least three colleges to your Naviance account.
- Complete the Dual Enrollment Survey
- Complete the Workforce Development Survey
Please use the appropriate link to schedule a meeting with the counselor assigned to the student by their last name:

Class of 2021 Graduation
Class of 2021 Graduation Celebration
We continue to work with the District on our plans to celebrate the Class of 2021. Although we are awaiting final direction and possible restrictions, we have tentatively set our Class of 2021 Graduation for Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 10:00 am. We also have a tentative back up date for Wednesday, May 26, 2021, time to be determined. We do not know what our graduation ceremony will look like as we plan for various scenarios. Also, we do not know the venue we will use for graduation and are working on different options.
As details are finalized, we will share that information with our students, families, and community through daily student announcements, weekly newsletters, and posted to www.cambridgehs.org > Students and Families > Seniors and Graduation.

Reflections Update from the PTSA
First, we apologize to Sean Jenkins (12th grade) for omitting his name from the previous winner’s announcement. Sean was a winner at Cambridge and the North Fulton Council level for his musical composition. Congratulations Sean.
Second, all the winning entries from the council level have gone to the state level and are being judged. Since there are both digital entries and physical entries, it takes longer to judge. We should have an announcement of the state winners in April. Congratulations again to All our Bears who won at the council level.
