Month of the Military Child Celebration - Wear Purple on Monday, April 15th
CES PTA is excited to celebrate the Month of the Military Child.
It's a time to honor and celebrate the incredible strength, resilience, and sacrifices of our military children, as well as those who understand and support their journey.
To show our solidarity and support, we encourage everyone to wear purple, a symbol of military appreciation and unity.
For military families who rsvp'd for breakfast on Monday, April 15th, we extend a special invitation to military members to wear their uniforms proudly as a visible tribute to their service and sacrifice. Please arrive by 8 am at the CES cafeteria for the breakfast.
Thank you for your dedication, service, and sacrifice. Together, let's make this Month of the Military Child a memorable celebration of courage, resilience, and unity.

supports or implies violence or sexual activities. Students who wear clothing that is inappropriate will be asked to change or to turn the clothing inside out. Students are not to wear clothing that is revealing or suggestive, such as crop tops, short shorts and tank tops. Hats are not to be worn inside the building, unless we are having “Hat Day” as part of school spirit. Jump Rope for CES
Thank yo so much for the HUGE success of our Jump Rope for CES fundraiser. With your generous donations, our total was over $7,000. About $1000 of that will be donated directly to the Urbana Food Bank. The rest of the funds will be used to purchase PE equipment including items for a new Dynamic Balance Unit. We are very grateful for your support and partnership!
Class Placements 2024-2025
It's hard to think that we will soon be planning for next year! Our plan is to group students into their classes over the summer and announce these placements in August. Some of you appreciate the opportunity to share feedback about the characteristics of a teacher that best match your child(ren). While we will still accept this feedback, please understand the mammoth task of grouping students. The feedback can be taken into consideration but never a guarantee. If you feel the need to share feedback, you may email the principal at karen.hopson@fcps.org with characteristics of a teacher to best meet the needs of your child. We are unable to accept any request that specifically name a teacher. Next year, our fourth and fifth grades will continue using the departmentalization model where all students in those grades will have the opportunity to experience each teacher in that grade. More information and details will be sent out over the summer to these grades. Thank you for your understanding!
