Ash Wednesday & Valentine's Day
This is a unique year in that Ash Wednesday is on February 14. Our school will be honouring Ash Wednesday observances on the 14th and at SKTA we have made plans for Valentine’s Day activities in advance of this day - on Tuesday February 13th.
During Lent we are invited, as Catholics, to step outside of our day-to-day routines and into a formal time of personal preparation for Easter. The Church calls us to a sort of spiritual “spring cleaning”; to participate in practices that help us turn back to God.
During Lent, we are encouraged to prepare our hearts through increasing our intentionality and practice of 3 disciplines: prayer, fasting and almsgiving (being servants to others).
The Church teaches that Ash Wednesday and Good Friday, in particular, are universal days of fasting and abstinence from meat.

All parents and staff, as well as students in grades 4 & 5 at SKTA will be given the opportunity to complete the survey. Surveys are completely anonymous.
Families with children at more than one GSACRD school - please complete a survey for each site.

Parent Council & Friends of SKTA are both wonderful ways for parents & guardians to get involved and support our school and it's initiatives. All parents & guardians with children registered at SKTA are welcome to join! Participating in Parent Council will allow individuals to share their voice and their talents with the school community and serve our students. Any families who would like to review the Agenda's and Minutes can access them on our SKTA website (CLICK HERE)

THANK YOU Friends of SKTA!
Our school had an AMAZING family movie night and we are so appreciative of the organization and planning from our wonderful "Friends of SKTA parent group!" We had such a great turn out and truly feel blessed to have such an amazing community of families here at St. Kateri.

GSACRD Voice
Overwhelmed by BIG Goals?
The onset of a New Year traditionally represents a fresh start, presenting us with opportunities to leave our old habits behind and create new ones. Is your child preparing to accomplish some big New Year's resolutions this year? These goals look like:
Making the sports team
Getting better grades
Keeping their room clean
Learning to cook
Getting down to the details of their goals can be overwhelming and even daunting. So what can we do to help?
We can play a part in guiding our children to approach their goals in more manageable ways instead of trying to tackle and perfect them all at once. Reducing the pressure to make straight A’s right way or be the captain of every sports team, will allow for children to adapt to their goals at their own pace, ensuring they remain optimistic and driven.
Check out this week’s resources from Big Life Journal that can help your child keep their goals organized and easily attainable!

Methods for Recording Student Attendance
Dear Parents,
Ensuring your child's attendance is accurately recorded is essential for us to provide the best educational experience. Please visit our website (Click HERE) for detailed instructions under the MENU.
Ongoing Reporting - Viewing your students marks
We encourage all parents to use PowerSchool as a tool to remain informed about student progress. Questions or concerns about student assessments should be directed to your child's homeroom teacher. Interviews to discuss student progress will continue to be a valuable opportunity for collaboration between home and school. In addition to this, reciprocal emails and phone calls will also be essential to maintaining a solid relationship that is focused on student success.
Please watch video on our website (Click HERE) for a step by step on how to access.
