A Weekly Newsletter From The Connally Cadets
Week of 4/15 - 4/19
Superintendent's Update
Hello Cadets!
Today is the official deadline to file your taxes or extension. I am sure you have often been reminded of the date, but one more reminder doesn’t hurt. The school has several significant dates in April as well. This is when our STAAR and End Of Course (EOC) exams begin. Please check your students' campus newsletter and calendar for the important dates related to your student(s).
This is also the time of year when field trips and special events are added to the calendar. This week, our Connally Early Childhood students will see a presentation by a mobile dairy. They will learn how milk and dairy products are produced and how they contribute to healthy eating. They will bring a live milk cow from the dairy to demonstrate where our milk comes from. It will be an excellent experience for our students who have never been on a dairy farm.
Our Connally Primary School students will be dressed in their best spring outfits on Wednesday, April 17th, as it is spring individual and group picture day. With the weather forecast being excellent for the next few days, it is a great time to break out the new spring and summer fashions. Hopefully, the weather will stay warm all week because they will enjoy a Kona Ice snow cone day on Thursday, April 18th. Please see their newsletter for more details.
Many of our high school athletes have been busy in the past few weeks. Our baseball and softball teams are playing the La Vega Pirates this week. All games will be varsity only. Tuesday’s games will be played at La Vega, and Friday’s games will be played at home. This Friday will be the senior recognition night for both baseball and softball. It is also the final district game for the softball team.
Last week, I shared the exciting news that several varsity track athletes advanced to the area track meet in Lago Vista. I am thrilled to announce that their hard work and dedication have paid off, and several will be representing our school at the regional track meet this Friday and Saturday. Athletes who place in the top four of their event will advance to the regional meet in Bullard, TX, this weekend. Let's all cheer them on and show our support!

The April regular Connally ISD School Board meeting is tonight. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the CISD Administration building. The meeting will start with student recognition, followed by the full agenda.
As a reminder, following Monday, April 22nd, is the first day of early voting for the May election cycle. Connally ISD has a few items on the ballot. We have three seats on the board of trustees up for election. One of the three seats has a challenger to be decided in this election. We also have a school bond on the ballot. The bond would build a new elementary campus near the current primary school. The new building will house grades 2 through 5. This would allow PreK and Kindergarten to move back to the primary campus. The district would then operate four schools instead of the current five-school configuration. If you would like more information on the bond or are interested in touring the current elementary school facilities to become an educated voter and assess the need for a new facility, please contact me, and a meeting can be arranged.
Have a great week Cadet Nation!
