November 19, 2021
Dear Penngrove Families,
This is the time in the year when we think about all of the things for which we are grateful. I am grateful for being able to be a part of the Penngrove community for the third time in four years. I am grateful that students can be back in school this year. I am grateful for the wonderful teachers and staff members who go above and beyond to create a warm and inviting learning environment for your children, our students. I am most proud to be able to serve with these kind and professional educators and support staff, it is a blessing.
I want to take this opportunity to wish you a very wonderful Thanksgiving. Enjoy the next week off. May it provide you with opportunities to slow down and cherish what is most important in life, spending time with those you love.
In Partnership,
Mrs. Rudder

Traffic/Parking Lot Updates
During this week, there is road work being done at the corner of Adobe Road and Petaluma Hill Road. The Sonoma County Department of Transportation chose this week because there is less traffic since Penngrove School is on Thanksgiving Break. The trees and other vegetation on the right side of Adobe Road as you approach the intersection of Petaluma Hill Road will be completely removed which will make it easier to view traffic that is approaching along that route. Please be aware that traffic will be congested as they work.
This year when I rejoined the Penngrove staff, I noticed that the parent parking lot had many changes, the most obvious of which is the extended drop-off area. It was redesigned that way so that students can be dropped off anywhere along that path, which should help with the traffic flow through the lot. I often get contacted by parents who give suggestions about ways to mitigate the traffic issues. One that I received during the past week had to do with dropping off earlier alongside the drop-off area. The parent who contacted me said that her children almost always make it to the stairs before she does in her car. If more people were to do that, it would make it safer for all students.
The other issue that comes up on a regular basis is in regard to people turning left as they leave the parking lot. There is a sign on school property stating “Right Turn Only.” When people turn left, it not only backs up the lot, but often causes near-collisions. Soon there will be a “No Left Turn” sign, which will be on county property and thereby enforceable by law. Until that sign is installed, please be kind and turn right!

PCS Family Holiday Fun Run
We are gearing up for our first ever PCS 1 mile/5K/10K Family Holiday Fun Run. If your child is interested in participating in the 5K or 10K and would like to prepare ahead of time, we are putting together a Run Club at each school site. Practices will be held after school once a week on the day and time of the teacher or parent volunteer's choosing. The final event will be on Saturday, December 11th, where students and families will have the opportunity to participate in either a 1 mile, 5K, or 10K at Shollenberger Park and Ellis Creek.
