No School on Monday, April 1.
Students Return on Tuesday, April 2.
Tuesday is an EVEN day.
Activity buses will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week.
Important Notes for This Week
1. Special Schedules on Wednesday and Thursday
Students will be preparing for the Maryland State testing which begins the following week. On Wednesday, students will be introduced to their testing groups and then on Thursday, students will be completing the Maryland State Student Climate survey.
2. MCAP State Testing Beings Next Week
Students will start their State Math test on Monday, April 8. Testing will continue through Tuesday, April 16 and so we ask families to try their best to plan any absences around the morning time of these days so that students have the best testing environment.

3. Marking Period 3 Ends on April 9
Marking period 3 ends on Tuesday, April 9. Students should work with their teachers to ensure all missing assignments are completed and any retake assessments are taken during lunch or after school.
4. Important Message About Student Service Learning Hours
Attention 8th Grade Students & Families!
Please keep in mind that if you are working towards completing your 75-hour SSL graduation requirement early to earn the Superintendent’s SSL Award, your forms are due to the office no later than Friday, April 5th 2024.
Please note: The 10 hours for anyone enrolled in Grade 8 Social Studies course will not be entered until the end of this school year upon successful completion of the course requirements. To receive the middle school award, you must have 75 hours completed by April 5th. Please email Ms. Grimshaw with questions or visit her in Room 2025 once we return from break.

2. SSL Hours Opportunity
Attention Students:
you can now earn SSL hours, and feed your family, and learn about cooking - all at the same time!!
Join KindSoup4Students on the first Sunday of each month from 5-6pm. We'll cook a huge pot of a delicious (and nutritious) soup, together by zoom, from our own kitchens! You'll have enough to feed your own family dinner, with plenty leftover to share with others! We have food assistance providers listed on our website scattered around the DMV. (you earn 1 hour for every 3 quarts of frozen KindSoup that you giveaway!)

3. Asian American LEAD
“Want to improve your mental health skills and help your community? Asian American LEAD, in partnership with AAHI and PCC, is hosting a mental health workshop series to provide AAPI middle schoolers in Montgomery County with lessons about mental wellness, cultural identity, and self-confidence. "We Care for Us" will be four sessions led by expert speakers, where students can practice new skills and connect with one another about helping their community. Parents and family members also have the chance to attend the first session on March 2nd, where they can learn about mental health and supporting their child!
Join us on Saturdays in March & April (3/2, 3/16, 4/6, 4/20) at the Bauer Community Center, where there will be catered breakfast and lunch, opportunities to receive a stipend, SSL volunteer hours, or raffle prizes, and much more!
