A NOTE FROM MRS. B
Howdy Bronco Family! We have started off January fast and strong. The students were all ready for business and picked up right where they left off before Christmas Break. Middle of the year MAP testing is underway, and your child’s teacher will be contacting you with how he or she performed.
Terry County Stock Show is Friday. I would like to wish luck to all the students who are participating. I know how much work, time and responsibility is involved with show animals. I also know how much fun and rewarding it is for the students. They will all shine in the show ring!
We will celebrate the 2nd 9 Weeks on Thursday, January 19th in the Carpet Gym. The celebration will begin at 9:00am. Parents and friends are invited to join and celebrate the successes of the students.
Remember, you can always find the latest Meadow ISD news on the MISD website and Facebook page, so go check them out! Also, check your kiddo’s backpack and folders for any important paper notes that may have gone home.
Don’t forget to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about what is going on in the classroom. We are always here to help.
It’s ALWAYS great to be a Bronco!

KINDERGARTEN
Hello parents,
We’ve been super busy in Kindergarten. This week we started BAS reading tests. Soon you will see your child’s reading levels in the report cards. My goal is to get your child to reading level D by the end of the year. We’ve also been MAP testing in Reading and Math. Here are our main learning objectives for this week.
-Phonics- Focus on sounds, alphabetizing, blends and letter Dd.
-Math - Counting, reading and writing numbers through twenty, comparing teen numbers and generating numbers that are one more, or one less than a given number.
-Sight words- please continue to practice new sight words with your child each night.
-AR – read the AR library books to your child for at least 20 minutes so they can take an AR test. Please fill calendar each night if you read the library book to your child. At the end of January if the calendar is filled your child will earn a prize.
Please call the office, or message me on Class Dojo, if your child is sick.
Thank you for all that you do.
Mrs. Sanchez
Sra. Sánchez

3RD GRADE
Hello 3rd grade reading family,
This week we took our second Map testing for the year. There was some growth from the first testing, but not as much as I was hoping to see. Starting next week I am going to implement vocabulary quizzes that will be taken on Thursdays. Your child will receive 10 vocabulary words that we will study and make flashcards to study at home. This will ensure that students will fully understand uncommon words to prepare them for STAAR.
This week we began our unit on poetry; my favorite type of text to teach. We started out by understanding each element of poetry and how they compare and contrast to other types of texts. We have looked at different examples of great pieces and learned about the different types of rhyme schemes. Next week we dive into the purpose of the poem and analyze the meaning by using our learned skills of reading.
This week in phonic we reviewed compound words by coding them and breaking them down by syllables to better understand how they are spelled. Remember, due to the new schedule we will be taking our spelling tests on Thursdays.
This week in grammar, we focused on identifying compound sentences and using the correct FAN BOY to combine two sentences. We have continued to review and learn about different prefixes and suffixes and how they can change the root word and its meaning. Because we are starting poetry, we have come back to figurative language. This week we focused on the metaphor “food for thought.”
For social studies this week, we looked at different cultural heritages and compared them to other cultures that we have learned about in the past.
Please remember…
Read every night for at least 20 minutes with your child
Spelling tests are now every Thursday
Daily homework is due Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Thank you for all you do,
