What does Multiple Sclerosis mean?
A disease in which the immune system eats away at the protective coverings of nerves.
What causes this? How does a child aquire it?
The cause of multiple sclerosis is unknown. Its considered an autoimmune disease in which the body's immune system attacks its own tissue. For children to get MS is very rare because it tends to progress more slowly than adults. Its not contagious and its hereditary, so you cant catch from anyone.
Can it be prevennted and what are the symptoms,
There is no way to prevent MS or its attacks. The symptoms foe MS are vision loss, pain, fatigue, and impaired coordination. Some people can be symptoms free most of their lives and while others can have severe chronic symptoms that will never go away.
How can Ms be detected and what is treatment
The will use several strategies to determine if a person has MS, in order for the doctor to make a diagnosis, the physician must find evidence of damage in at least two separate areas of the central nervous system, which will include the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. The treatment for MS is physical therapy and medications that suppress the immune system can help with symptoms and slow disease progression.
