Raymond Central Public Schools
February 2023
From the Desk of the Superintendent...
Mustang Families,
Happy February to all of our Mustang families! January has managed to pass rapidly and we can get a glimpse of Spring just around the corner. Teachers are working diligently to get through the academic standards for the school year and ensure that our students are ready for their spring assessments. Students are looking forward to warmer days and the promise of sunny recesses. We are continuing to provide quality learning experiences for our children and we are grateful to our parents and community members for being collaborators in the effort.
The board of education has continued their work to determine future facility needs. The board invited a group of about 50 patrons representing all six wards to attend patron committee meetings that began in February 2022. There have been several patron committee meetings and several board work sessions since the first meeting. The next patron committee meeting will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 7:30 p.m. At this meeting we will be sharing with the committee the project solution that the board has selected to move forward. After more than a year of working on this initiative, the board of education is hopeful to have a project solution and bond amount to be voted on as an election call at the March board meeting. In future newsletters I will share with you more specific information pertaining to the project solution that the board approves to move forward.
I would again encourage all parents/guardians to complete the free and reduced lunch application forms. Families that qualify may be eligible for Pandemic-EBT benefits through the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services as well as fee waivers, scholarships, medicaid, and SCHIP. Application forms can be obtained by contacting your school office or can be found on our website at the ‘Parents’ tab which is within the menu option.
Go Mustangs!

Teammates Opportunity!
I am a fifth-grade male at the Valparaiso site. I am a creative kid and have lots of ideas and can make them happen. One thing I really like to do is make slime! I would like to have a TeamMate that comes to school to play board games with me and talk. I have seen TeamMates walk around the school and talk like friends do. I would like to be a part of that.
If you are interested in learning more about TeamMates, go to TeamMates Mentoring: Home. If you have additional questions, you can reach out to Kris White or Tasha Osten. We’d love to have you be a part of TeamMates!

Safe 2 Help Information
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As part of Raymond Central’s commitment to students’ safety and mental health, beginning in January 2023 we are launching an anonymous reporting program, which will allow students and parents to make anonymous reports about concerns of safety or student wellness. Our program is student-focused, as opposed to crime-focused, meaning it is a tool for alerting caring adults about students who need help—not snitching. This is part of our continuous effort to increase campus and student safety, and provide students with a safe, completely anonymous outlet to share concerns.
Students can use our new Safe2HelpNE app to report: bullying, suicide concerns, depression, sexting, stealing, threats, cutting, abuse, dating and domestic violence, fights, drugs, alcohol, weapons or other types of dangerous situations that threaten the safety of others. Their reports will be addressed by a trained school threat assessment team.
When you or your student have a concern, you can go to www.safe2helpne.org on your computer, tablet, or laptop-- or you can download the free Safe2HelpNE mobile app-- and make a 100% anonymous report in less than five minutes.
The use of anonymous reporting apps in state programs like Safe2Tell Colorado have proven to be successful in providing the tools and information needed for school officials and to proactively address concerning behaviors, potential incidents of violence, and other harmful situations on campus before they develop. We look forward to working with you and your students to continue making Raymond Central a safe school.
