Trimester II - Finish Line
And That's A Wrap!
As we end Trimester II we want to highlight some of the work that students have completed. Above are a couple of photos of classes doing a vocal exam on "Follow the Drinking Gourd" and rehearsal time!
Chorus & Music Appreciation Class (6th - 8th Grade):
For 6 - 8th grade all students had the opportunity to learn about "Follow the Drinking Gourd." Students learned about the importance and the positive impact of this song moreover that the lyrics helped to save an estimated 100,000 lives! We have officially concluded Unit 3: Lyric Analysis and now begun Unit 4: The History of Jazz and students have begun working in groups for their research projects on different jazz artists!
8th Grade Music Appreciation:
8th grade took the extra time to also review the famous jazz singer Billie Holiday and her contributions to the Civil Rights Movement. It was so moving to see the students engaged in their learning, understanding the metaphoric meaning of lyrics, this will help to set them up for success for their composition project!
