Expeditionary Thursdays
Update #3 11/30/17
6th Grade
Kindness and openmindedness are two of the BCS core values, and the ELA shared text, Wonder by R.J. Palacio, focuses on choosing kind and being openminded. This ET helped students build community. Through the activities, students left with an understanding that our differences make us stronger, and that being openminded is essential to building a safe and stable community. Featured below are some of their "kindness commitments."
7th Grade
Through a series of activities and initiatives, students began to explore the sugar in the food we consume, how calories work in our body, how they are calculated for nutrition labels, and how to use triple beam balances - an essential feature in upcoming science labs.
8th Grade
Students collected background information on the evolution of humans and mammals, and how the the body has evolved. They also built background knowledge on the nervous system at the special exhibit, "My Senses."
