A MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL ROBERTSON
After spring break, we will begin our MCAP testing for third, fourth, and fifth grade students. We will be testing throughout the months of April and May. Please remind your children that any electronic devices must be powered off and put away during the school day. This is a daily rule*, not just when there is testing. The presence of electronic devices during testing may invalidate your child’s scores and possibly the scores of classmates after the incident is investigated. We appreciate your support in making sure students are arriving to school on time. Arriving to school is critical because the teacher and class are preparing for testing. If your child is late, they will most likely have to sit in the main office until testing has concluded. We appreciate your support during this time.
Thank you to our LVBES Math Den and all of our teachers who helped make our Math Night this past month such a huge success. The attendance by our families was amazing. This month we have some exciting events including two exciting PTA sponsored events. We have our 2nd annual Staff vs. Parents Basketball Game at Rockville High School on April 11th and our Science Fair on April 25th. In addition, Take Your Child to Work Day is also on April 25th. Please contact your child's homeroom teacher if you plan to have your child accompany you to work that day. It will be considered an excused absence.
Speaking of absences, I am thrilled to share that our Barnsley Bears have won the Rockville ES Cluster Attendance Award again for the month of February. I am anxious to see whether we will win for March as well. So far we are undefeated. Thank you for all of your efforts in getting our bears to school every day.
I look forward to a busy and productive month.
Sincerely,
Ms. Robertson
