IT IS TIME! TNREADY STARTS TUESDAY!!
It is time for state testing at Oak Ridge High School. In an attempt to streamline testing and preserve as much instructional time as possible, we will use modified schedules for our testing days. If a student is enrolled in the tested subject area for the day, the student will begin school and testing at 7:50 a.m. If a student is NOT enrolled in the tested subject for that day, the student may arrive after testing concludes. All classes will meet on an abbreviated schedule each day following testing. Attendance to these classes is mandatory for all students.
The buses will run on the normal schedule. If a student does not have a test and arrives to school before regular classes begin, the student will report to the food court and remain until testing is over. Breakfast and lunch will be served.
Please note - Wednesday is a NORMAL Wednesday schedule for all students!

COMPUTER DISTRIBUTION ONLINE FORMS FOR 2018-2019 - VERY IMPORTANT FOR ALL PARENTS OF RETURNING STUDENTS
We are busy planning for the upcoming school year 2018-19 at Oak Ridge High School! As your family prepares for next year, we encourage you to complete the online laptop distribution form via the parent Skyward account. Everyone will be thrilled to know there is only ONE form this year. Please note that you will find a computer stylus permission included on your Technology User Agreement. The stylus is heavily used at ORHS, particularly in math and science classes. If you wish for your child to have a stylus, please check the box and they will receive it on computer distribution day.
The link to the video below will give you STEP BY STEP instructions on completing the form. It has been simplified since last year based on feedback we received from our families. We want to eliminate those annoying phone calls this summer, so please sign the form prior to the end of this school year!!
Should you have any questions regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Harvey at charvey@ortn.edu, Mrs. Witick at nwitick@ortn.edu, or Mrs. Thompson at sathompson@ortn.edu.
National Teacher Appreciation Week
Gift Cards Donations Needed
On Thursday, May 10, we show teachers and staff at ORHS how much we appreciate them by hosting a special luncheon. The PTSO is coordinating the luncheon where each teacher and a staff member will receive a thank you card with a gift card. We need parents and guardians to donate gift cards or money that will be used to purchase them. Please show your support by either bringing one or more gift cards for any store, service or restaurant you’d like, worth approximately $15 each, or a cash or check donation to the office in an envelope labeled PTSO Lunch, or click on the link below to donate via the PTSO Paypal account. Your help is needed to make this happen and show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate what they do for our children every day.
Thank you, The PTSO Board

INDOOR DRUMLINE AND WINTER GUARD TAKE HOME AWARDS!
On April 7th, the Indoor Drumline took first place in the Novice class at the area championships under the direction of Sean Rutherford, Jefferson Middle School Director. This was the first year of competition for this group of students in 6th - 12th grade. Alicia Sharp, Color Guard Director, and her assistant Alexis York, guided the Oak Ridge Guard programs to new levels in their second year of the program.
The Winter Guard placed a very close fourth in the finals. Their season saw them promoted from the lower class, in which they started, up to a higher class to compete against well-established guards. Fourth place was an amazing accomplishment in a field of nine participating schools. The newly formed Prep Guard, with students in 6th - 8th grade, performed in exhibition twice this season to appreciative audiences. All groups perform under the Oak Ridge High School Band Program directed by Spence Milligan.

TN DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION WOULD LIKE YOUR FEEDBACK!
Dear Parent(s),
We are working to improve conditions for learning in our schools. Students will learn more effectively in a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment. We would very much appreciate your help by completing the short survey attached. Your perceptions about your child’s school will help us identify what we are doing well, and what we need to do better.
If you have more than one child in this school, you may pick which one you want to think about when answering the questions. This survey is anonymous. No one will know which answers come from you, and it will not be possible to connect your answers to your child in any way.
The parent survey link for Oak Ridge High School can be found in the email for the iNews. If you have questions about completing this survey, please contact Kimberly Daubenspeck at (615) 532-0469 or Kimberly.Daubenspeck@tn.gov.
Thank you for your help,
Kimberly Daubenspeck
