Volunteer for a leadership role
Are you ready to step into a leadership role? There are many committees that currently are in need of a chair for the 2017-2018 school year. Please consider chairing one of these important PTA committees/clubs:
Beautification
Chess Club
Cultural Arts
Explore More Day (need co-chairs to assist current chairs and carry forward)
Field Day (need co-chair to assist current chair and carry forward)
Room Party Coordinator
Room Parent Coordinator
Screen Free Week Committee Chair
Please contact Rachel Bailey at mooreracheld@hotmail.com or Kristin Olson at kolson1@me.com if you are interested in any of these positions. If you're willing to serve as a committee/club chair but are unsure of what would be a good fit, let us know, we'll be happy to discuss the various roles with you.
Last Chance to Order a Yearbook
A sincere thank you to the Yearbook Committee: Holly Harty, Louise Kirkman, Julie Klink, Sybil Scaccia and Megan Savitt. If you are interested in joining this fun and creative committee next school year, please contact Dawn Draus at yearbook@madisonschoolpta.org. We are always looking for new members!
For those students that ordered a yearbook, it will be handed out to the student in class on the last day of school. If you need to make special arrangements, please contact Dawn at yearbook@madisonschoolpta.org. Please click here if you are unsure if you ordered a yearbook. If you have not ordered and would like to do so, please use this link. A yearbook costs $17 and at this time, a delivery charge of $8.11 will be added to the cost.
All Hands On Deck for Explore More Day!
We need more volunteers to help with the most anticipated day of the year...Explore More Day! No experience or advance planning is necessary, just show up on Friday, May 26 and help where needed. Email us at emd@madisonschoolpta.org to let us know if you can help in the morning, afternoon or all day. There's a free lunch for everyone who participates!
Thank you to everyone who volunteered during class registration
Pre-order 2017-2018 school supplies
Are you already dreading the school supply rush in August? Do you hate the thought of running all over town to find the right school supplies? Let the PTA help you! The PTA is now selling school supply kits for next year. This is offered as a convenience for parents, not as a PTA fundraiser.
All Madison students should have brought home a school supply order form. If you did not receive one, you can print one out from the Madison PTA website. Paper orders are due by May 26, while online orders can be made through July 15. Please note, sales tax will be added to all online orders.
All families are encouraged to order online at www.carlsonschoolkits.com/madison-elementary-school/; however, paper orders will also be accepted. School supply kits will be delivered to your child's classroom by August 21st. If you have any questions, please email Kathryn Medanic at schoolsupplies@madisonschoolpta.org.
PTA registration is now open for 2017-18
Get a head start and become a member of the PTA for the upcoming school year. As a member you have access to the digital all school directory Directory Spot, which lets you be in contact with other families as well as provides information about Madison School.
Your membership also goes to support the many fun programs and events such as Multicultural Day, Explore More Day, Field Trips, Class Parties, Math Club, Chess Club, Battle of the Books, Conservation Committee, Meet and Treat, Winter Carnival, Field Day, and more!
Sign Up is easy. Simply click on this link and follow instructions. There is an option to pay by credit card online or print a form and return to the office with cash or check.
There are many ways to volunteer both behind the scenes and in the school. If you would like to volunteer for a committee, simply click this link and follow instructions to sign up for a committee of your choice.
If you have any questions, please contact Lisa Thomas at membership@madisonschoolpta.org
Battle of the Books volunteers needed
Soon after school starts in the fall, Madison's Battle of the Books program will begin. Now that your kids are in fourth and fifth grade, it's harder to find volunteer opportunities where you can actually work with your child. Battle of the Books is a fun way to be with your child and get to know other fourth and fifth graders. Battle meets weekly during the recess portion of the lunch hour. Team up with a few of your friends and rotate weeks, or be with your group each week--the choice is yours. Each group reads 12-13 books. See the full list here. If you're interested in this wonderful opportunity, please email Janet Mathis, janetmarkmathis@yahoo.com.
THANK YOU LLC VOLUNTEERS
Thank you to the Library Learning Center volunteers this year. Also, thank you to Kathryn Medanic, the LLC Volunteer Coordinator. The library volunteer program has always been an important aspect of Madison’s LLC program. Volunteers shelve books, check books in and out, read stories, and complete the many tasks involved to make the library run smoothly.
Volunteers also allow Mrs. Graham the opportunity to work with classes on research projects and other activities. With the district’s reduction of library aides at the elementary level, we especially need volunteers next year to continue providing services for our students. Volunteers are needed either mornings (9:15-12:00) or afternoons (1:00-3:30). If you are interested in volunteering next year, please contact Kathryn Medanic at llcvolunteers@madisonschoolpta.org
Thank you to this year’s library volunteers: Sue Adkins, Amy Angolkar, Shelly Baker, Namita Bose, Joo Chang, Linda Doherty, Melissa Dorn, Jen Doty, Karen Evans, Monica Fahey, Kim Franch, Gina Garza, Barb Ioli, Kamanthi Magalage, Kelly Masse, Janet Mathis, Kathryn Medanic, Marla Mothershed, Dawnelle Muff, Anne Nigrelli, Alis Priebe, Abby Richardson, Vickie Samala, Janine Shimp, Susana Sitges, Margit Spires, Sue Stogsdill, Ann Sutherland, Lynn Tucker, and Suzie Weber. Thank you so much for your time and dedication. Also, thank you to Margit Spires, who organized the General Mills Box Tops For Education program.
Thank you Conservation Committee supporters
The Go Green Committee would like to thank Amy Angolkar and Lyndee Sears for their support with the student Conservation Committee. We'd also like to thank Diane Graham for her help with many of our projects.
