Arbor View Elementary
Mission/Vision
Mission - Arbor View will engage all children in learning experiences to establish a foundation for success
Vision - To ensure the growth and development of all learners
From The Office
During View Crews this week we learned more about what it means to include others. Arbor View is participating in the Spread the Word Inclusion Campaign. As part of Special Olympics the campaign is aimed at showcasing the impact of inclusive language and actions so that the discrimination of people with intellectual disabilities can come to an end.
Please ask your child about the things they can say and do to include others here at school.
In alignment with newly adopted Strategic Plans goals, and a focus on the mental health and overall well-being of students and staff, EPS will host Dr. Jean Twenge as she presents “Parenting and Guiding the Smartphone Generation”. In addition to Dr. Twenge’s presentation, a Q&A session will follow featuring special guest and Creighton Volleyball Coach, Kirsten Bernthal Booth. Parents are encouraged to attend this event which will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 6:30 PM at Elkhorn South High School. The presentation will be free and open to the public. Visit https://bit.ly/parentingthesmartphonegeneration for additional information.
School starts at 8:15. Any child who arrives after that time is considered tardy. Please make sure to plan your morning so that your children arrive before 8:15. We do offer breakfast as early as 7:35 and walking club begins at 7:55 if you need to utilize one of those services to ensure your child is ready to learn at 8:15.

See the PDF below for details on the upcoming Family Math Night.
April 8th - Eclipse
As some of you may be aware, a total solar eclipse will cross North America on Monday, April 8. While Nebraska is outside of the path of totality, we will experience about 80% of the sun being blocked by the moon at approximately 1:55 p.m. This event will be both educational and historical for our students to witness, as an eclipse with this level of visibility has not occurred since 2017.
District science teachers and administrative staff have been busy preparing for the event by ordering special glasses for all students to be able to view the eclipse, as well as preparing learning materials and resources for staff to adequately engage students at all grade levels in this event. Some schedules will also be adjusted in order to allow for participation and viewing.
While all staff will be trained on safety measures to be taken in regards to protecting all students, there is a potential for retinal injury by viewing the eclipse directly, when done without the protection of the glasses. Due to this possibility, we are requiring positive parent permission for students to participate. A parent permission slip will be sent home in late March. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this event, please feel free to contact the office.

Push the button and wait for an identification request.
Give your name and purpose for entering the school.
When you hear the door unlatch, enter and proceed to the office.
Sign in on the visitor sheet and take a visitor sticker/badge.
When leaving the building, return to the office and sign out and place your sticker in the trash can.
If you have brought something that your child has forgotten, please drop it off at the office, we will be happy to take it to your child. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us to minimize classroom interruptions.
Online Art Shop!!!
Hello Arbor View Families!
Thank you so much again for supporting the art room fundraiser. I have gotten a few emails about placing late and additional orders! If you would like to download additional pieces of art that come home throughout the year, you can always add those to your account and order through the month of July! Arbor View's art room will benefit and earn money on those orders!
What does the money go toward?? Consumable art supplies! Things are expensive and need to be replaced often: crayons, markers, paint, pencils and erasers, glue sticks, drawing paper and cardstock! In addition, I am saving for a hanging system for our building to make my life easier to display artwork! It is a win/win!
