The WJHS Panther Update
Mar. 1, 2024
Greetings Panther Families,
As we close out the month of February, we are excited for the start of March. March is a great time, as it often marks the transition into spring, bringing new energy and opportunities for learning and growth. March is also Women's History Month and a perfect time to learn about influential women in history, the importance of gender equality, and women's rights.
OE: WJHS' Favorite 6th Grade Tradition Continues
Two bus rides, seven meals, seventy Hoppers, twelve campfire songs, one wood cookie, and zero ort–another successful OE trip is in the books! We hope everyone made great memories. Sincere thanks to students, families, and staff for your support. We couldn’t have made the trip without you. We love that we can offer an OE experience to students. Dr. B is looking for two students to talk about OE during Step Up Night. Are you interested? Please let her know ASAP. jburisek@cusd201.org
5 Essentials
We value your feedback! For us to receive our parent feedback on the 5 Essentials, we need 20% of our families to TAKE THE SURVEY. Currently, we are at 12%! Click on the picture to take you to the survey.
As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts and experiences on the important elements of school effectiveness.
Conferences

PTO News
Great news! We’ve reached our first milestone by successfully raising $2,000 towards our goal! However, we still have a ways to go. We are striving to reach our school-wide target of $5,000, and every contribution is important.
Currently, we've seen participation from less than 30% of our students. As the only major fundraiser for this year, the success of Raise Craze is crucial to our ability to fund future projects and events. The kindness your children demonstrate through their fundraising efforts is more than just about money; it's about enabling and sustaining valuable programs and initiatives that enrich our school community. From the 8th Grade Dance to beautification projects like the scoreboard upgrade planned for this spring, as well as showing our appreciation for our dedicated teachers and staff during Appreciation Week – these are all made possible with your support.
We need just a few moments of your time to make a big difference. Please assist your child in registering with their cusd201 email and adding the email addresses of friends, family, and neighbors who might be willing to support our cause. After that, your student will take the lead in spreading kindness throughout the community.

Our Panthers have been very busy building the sets and making the props for the WJHS production of Aladdin Jr. I cannot wait to see it. If you haven't already, mark your calendar for April 12th or 13th, you won't be disappointed!
