Supt.'s Bulletin
2019-20 Vol. 1
Greetings!
This is my first bulletin of the school year - these bulletins are published periodically when necessary. Each bulletin includes a giveaway at the end, and these giveaways are donated to the school district or purchased by me. School district resources are never used for the giveaway.
It has been a joy to see you all over the course of September and I look forward to addressing you as a staff this Friday. Here are some items for your information:
Medical incident procedures
As some of you know, current school nurse Brandie Christenson has resigned (effective October 7). We are hoping to have replacement staff hired soon. In the meantime, please use the following guidelines regarding student (or staff) situations that may arise:
- Emergency - Call 911; if you feel the need to call 911, do it! Emergency staff do not have to transport the person if they do not need to, but the medical staff will be able to assess the situation. Please note that some students' health care plans specify that 911 must be called (e.g., after the administration of a seizure medication). The school office needs to be made aware that 911 was called.
- Urgent Situation - Staff should call or visit the health clerk or nurse.
- Non-Urgent or Non-Emergency - For situations that are non-urgent or are not deemed emergencies (e.g., consultation on a student, special education evaluation, homebound services, concerns with hearing/vision), please complete this form so all communication can be tracked. Please do not send Brandie or the building health clerk an email for these items.
Is your information current?
It's always a good idea at the beginning of each school year to check that the personal information (address, phone number, etc.) the school district has on file for you is correct. Your information, especially phone numbers, will be used to contact you in case of weather delays or closings. You can verify what the district has on file in skyward employee access. If you find that your information in Skyward is not correct, please contact Jody Spofford at 1008 or jspofford@isd138.org.
