CMEA Weekly
April 11, 2024
What a Fantastic Fundraiser! (Pssst... Here Are Those Last-Chance Items)
We want to give a special shout out to all of the silent auction participants and attendees! Because of your incredible support, we've collected over $11,000 (we'll have final numbers as everything wraps up).
We had so many great auction items, however, that some were missed in the bidding process. So now’s your chance to purchase these items without going through a bidding war! It’s a first come, first serve basis, as mentioned in the email sent earlier this week.
Maybe you missed out on your auction item but you're not interested in the remaining items? No worries! The link below has options to make flat donations, as well.
Thanks, again, for all of your support! We can't wait to see our kiddos playing on the new playground equipment!
STEAM Schoolwide Assembly: Wednesday, April 17th
UPDATE: We need 2 more volunteers for the 11:45-2:45 shift! Sign up here!
Thanks to your incredible fundraising efforts, CMEA was able to cover the costs of a CME staff-recommended event: an interactive STEAM assembly!
Basically, it will be like our gym has been transformed into a state-of-the-art, hands-on children’s museum focused on STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math). Students will take turns exploring stations that include robots, virtual reality, 3D printing, art, engineering, and more!

We Need Your Help!
To help make this assembly a success, CMEA is in search of volunteers who would be interested in helping run the various stations and activities. (NOTE: The schedule for the day has been updated to accommodate CMAS testing and is reflected in SignUpGenius description.)
Warmer Weather?! That Calls for Kona! (4/18)
When: Thursday, April 18th
Where: Front of the School
What Time: 3:30 p.m.
Warmer weather is hopefully here to stay!
We love how our students enjoy being with each other on nice days after school, so come join us for some Kona Ice in the front of the building at 3:30 on April 18th!
Teachers, Books, and Doughnuts -- Oh My!
Ready for a busy (but fun) May?
As we close out the year, we want to celebrate teachers and school staff during Colorado’s Teacher Appreciation Week (May 6-10). Please keep a look out for flyers and newsletters for how to volunteer, donate, and get your kids involved.
May 6-10 is also when we will have the book fair at our school!
And to end the busy week with a bang, we're going to do another popular Doughnuts With Grownups! Why not wrap up the school year and support the book fair with a few tasty treats with friends?
Please RSVP here for Doughnuts with Grownups (May 10): RSVP LINK
Boohoo and Woohoo Potluck for Steve: Sunday, May 19th
When: Sunday, May 19th
Where: Red-Tail Park
What Time: 4:00-7:00 p.m.
As we close out the year, we are also saying goodbye to someone who has meant so much to our school. Our princiPAL, Steve, is retiring, and while we are sad (boohoo!) to see him go, we also know he has many fun adventures ahead in his next chapter (woohoo!).
Please save the date for May 19th (4-7 p.m.) at Red-Tail Park for a potluck gathering to wish him well. We encourage you to bring your favorite dish and invite other CME families (current and past) to join us.
Let's show Steve just how much we appreciate all that he's done for our kids!
Recap From Our Last PTO Meeting
We had our last PTO meeting for the year this week. We approved the principal's request for next year, learned about earning the John Irwin Award again (woohoo!), and lots more!
Check out our NOTES for all the details.
Missed the Pre-Teen/Teen Tech Talk?
Thank you to everyone who attended the free tech talk last week! Didn't get a chance to attend? Here are some great resources for you and your family to learn about safely navigating today's tech.

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students): Ongoing
Watch D.O.G.S. is a program that gives dads the opportunity to spend either a half or whole day in the building with their children. You will help in classrooms and go to lunch and recess with your child.
The purpose of the program:
- To provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is essential.
- To provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security and reduce bullying. All dads are encouraged to be a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at least once a year.
Upcoming CMEA Events: Ongoing
We are always looking for volunteers for Teacher/Staff Appreciation, our Daughter Event, our Son Event, School Beautification, our Spring Fundraiser, etc. If you would like to volunteer with CMEA in any way, please let us know.
KING SOOPERS CARDS
One of our biggest and easiest fundraisers has proven to be King Soopers Cards. In just over a year, our total donation received is typically in excess of $15,000. If you haven’t registered your rewards number (phone number) yet, please do so. It’s quick and easy and a great way to earn funds for our school. This money helps us to pay for teacher and school grants and host some of our events.
- Visit kingsooperscommunityrewards.com.
- Sign in or register with your King Soopers card or phone number.
- Click on Enroll.
- Search by school code (AB638) or organization name (Copper Mesa Elementary School - CMEA).
RENT THE ROCK!
Don’t forget to reserve the Spirit Rock for your special dates! Sign up HERE for the date you need and submit payment through MySchoolBucks or drop off cash/checks at the front office.
**Please remember: Reservations do not begin until 4:00 pm the day prior to your reservation. Rock painting should not begin prior to 4:00 p.m. We appreciate your cooperation.**
MILK CAPS FOR MOOLA
We are collecting Longmont Dairy Milk Caps again this year. There is a box near the front office desk where you can deposit them. Thank you!
SPIRIT WEAR
Customizable Spirit Wear is always available at Schmancy Tees and Gifts. Orders take about two weeks and are delivered right to your child’s classroom.
Do you love Copper Mesa as much as we do? Then let the world know, too! Post a review on GreatSchools.org!
