Competing at the Canadian Rockies Regional out of 37 Teams at the event!
Team Spyder made it all the way to the Quarter Finals as the 6th seeded alliance. Within the top 8 alliance pickings, the 3rd seeded alliance captain picked us moving us into the 3rd seeded alliance. We ended up with a record of 6-3-1 during the seeding matches. At the beginning of the quarterfinals we lost the first match with our robot losing communication and our alliance captain robot having a ball pop in the intake rendering us both unable to score. We won the second match. During the tiebreaker, our 3rd pick alliance ended up getting stuck on one of the opposing alliance robots creating an endless sea of penalties. At first it was announced that we won the tie breaker, and then to find out a few matches later that we were red carded (eliminated) due to the many penalties, causing us to lose the match. The alliance that moved forward ended up losing both matches in the semifinals. We had a new operator; Roy Alinsub on the drive team which had never driven the robot before. It was amazing to see the growth in a short amount of time. We are very proud of all the students that attended.
Entrepreneurship Award sponsored by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers: Celebrates the entrepreneurial spirit by recognizes a team that has developed a comprehensive business plan in order to define, manage, and achieve the team's ongoing objectives.
