The Green-Fields Family News
March 16, 2024
Hello Everyone
While we often talk about the vast learning differences among children, it's sometimes difficult to keep this in mind as we prepare our students for the world around them. If we're honest, society has a tendency to place us all in the same learning boxes, confining us to an accepted, yet false, standard of success. I've experienced this with my own learning style, and perhaps this is true for many of you reading today. Imagine a world where each child is given an opportunity to interact with their learning environment in a manner which specifically fits their way of gathering and assimilating information...while giving them the room to apply this experience in real time. Sounds awesome...right?
Learning diversity is real, and any time we can give our students an opportunity to experience moments that un-lock their cognitive and social identity are occasions we should embrace. We had just such an occasion this past week when 41 of our students visited West Deptford High School to participate in s special sensory performance of Shrek the Musical. A kind thanks to GF's teacher and Assistant Director, Mrs. Bridgette Deacon and HS teacher and Director, Mr. Michael Wyatt for making this amazing idea a reality for our fortunate students. It's a two-hour moment in time that they'll certainly remember, and one that we'll repeat for our diverse learners in the future. Please click on the link below to view the highlights...

THURSDAY, MARCH 21ST - EARLY DISMISSAL
Dear West Deptford School Community,
On Thursday, March 21, the Battleship USS New Jersey is scheduled to be moved from its dry dock in Camden to the Paulsboro Marina. In response to the anticipated crowds and to alleviate potential traffic congestion in the area, we have been in communication with the Office of Emergency Management. Due to the unpredictable size of the event, All West Deptford Schools will implement an early dismissal schedule on Thursday, March 21.
The hope is that this schedule change ensures smoother traffic flow, enabling our buses and families to navigate the area efficiently. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we prioritize safety and logistical considerations. Thank you for your flexibility in accommodating this temporary adjustment.
Sincerely,
Dr. Brian C. Gismondi

Health Alert
We've had a bit of an uptick in illness in the building among staff and students. Also, the state has recently seen an increased number of influenza cases over the past month. As a reminder, if your child has a fever over 100.4 F, please do not send them to school. Also, they must be fever-free for 24-hours without the use of medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen. Thank you for your help with this as germs spread quickly in a school building.
