It's the "Principal" of the Thing
We look forward to another great week of learning together next week!
On Tuesday, March 28th we had Olathe District Site Council from 6:30-8:30 PM. If you are interested in representing CCE at this event, please email Dr. Harrison or call the school office! We hope to have a great CCE representation there!
Forbes Magazine Named Olathe the #12 Best Midsize Employer of 2023!
"One surprise in the education sector, however, was that elementary through secondary schools also made their mark. For example, Olathe Public Schools, in Olathe, Kansas, just southwest of Kansas City, ranked No. 12.
While many teachers across the country are still recovering from the arduous years of remote (and then hybrid) learning—when the pandemic forced school systems to flip their in-person education model on its head—teachers in Olathe feel encouraged and motivated.
Much like Caltech, the school district’s first-rate resources along with a strong sense of community have helped drive its success. Not only do Olathe students flourish–exceeding both national and state averages in standardized testing and qualifying for more than $45 million in post-secondary scholarships for 2022 graduates—but the teachers also get to learn themselves.
The district provides programs such as professional development days with visiting speakers; a three-day new-teacher academy before each school year; designated mentors for teachers; and instructional coaches who work with teachers who change grades or subjects. “We are unique in that we really are strategic about providing that specific support when we have those kinds of teacher transitions,” says Lachelle Sigg, Ed.D., associate superintendent of human resources at Olathe Public Schools.
In addition, Olathe Public Schools offers teachers continuing education opportunities, with university partnerships to help Olathe staff members attain advanced degrees. Some courses are even offered right on the district’s campus. Sigg taught a graduate-level course this past fall for Olathe educators pursuing a master’s degree in education administration."

Teacher and Staff Recognition
We know we have fantastic teachers and staff at our school. Let’s share that with the rest of the school district! Nominate a teacher or staff member for an award from the Olathe Public Schools Foundation (OPSF). Each month the OPSF recognizes two educators with the Educator Excellence Award and two classified staff members with the Classified Employee Excellence Recognition Award. Both awards include a cash award of $500! Nomination forms are available on the OPSF website. It’s easy and only takes a few letters of support. Questions? foundation@olatheschools.orgor 780-8222.
