Dear Page Families,
It is March and time to kick off Women's History Month, we're excited to celebrate the extraordinary achievements and contributions of women throughout history. This month serves as a reminder of the countless women who have shaped our world, from pioneering scientists to courageous activists and everything in between.
Throughout March, classes will participate in classroom discussions, activities, and presentations. There will be plenty of opportunities for everyone to participate and learn. Happy Women's' History Month!

Dear MCPS Students, Staff and Families,
Here are things to know for Thursday Mar. 7. Get information about the 2024-2025 Change of School Assignment (COSA) transfer application, update on CDC respiratory virus guidance, open climate survey for all students, parents/caregivers and staff, upcoming events and opportunities, and news about our students and staff.
- Silent Auction is coming up in April 8th-12th!
Looking for donations - We’re gearing up for our annual silent auction and we need your help to make it a smashing success! If you have an item you’d like to donate for the auction, whether it’s a gift basket, a service, or a unique item, we’d love to include it in our lineup. Your generous contributions make a huge difference in supporting our school’s programs and initiatives. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to showcase your talents or businesses within our community! If you’d like to get involved or have an item to donate, please reach out to Tawanna Stokes, our dedicated PTA President. Let’s come together and make this year’s auction the best one yet! NASA Free Climate Webinar Series
- Attention climate-curious teachers, parents, and students,

- On March 22 we celebrate World Water Day! For the next in our GPM 10-in-10 webinar series, join NASA scientists to learn all about freshwater, Earth’s most precious resource. Find out how and why NASA keeps track of Earth's limited freshwater resources and discover how you can monitor precipitation yourself as a citizen scientist working with CoCoRaHS and the GLOBE Program.
- Guest speakers include John Bolten, Chris Kidd, Noah Newman, Marilé Colón Robles, and Dorian Janney.
Capital Improvements Program - New Hearing Notice
- March 14, 2024, at 6:00 p.m., to hear testimony regarding the Interim Superintendent’s Recommendation to Revise the Boundary Study Scope for the Reopening of Charles W. Woodward High School and the Interim Superintendent’s Recommendation for the New Crown High School/Damascus High School Expansion Boundary Study Scope.
- Video, audio and in-person testimony will be accepted and will be made available to the public on BoardDocs. Individuals who wish to provide public comments will register using the online registration form.
- The public may begin signing up to provide testimony on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. CLICK HERE to register. Individuals registering may reserve only one space.
- Sign-up registration will close on the following dates:
- Hearing on March 14, 2024 (boundary study scopes)– Sign-ups close on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.

Important Information from Past Newsletter
Make Payments on MySchoolBucks and Apply for Free and Reduced Priced Meals (FARMS)
Payments to your child’s account can be made directly to the school cafeteria via cash or with a check made payable to the school. We recommend not sending cash with your child as we cannot be responsible for lost cash. You also may make payments electronically at www.MySchoolBucks.com.
Free and Reduced Priced Meals: Your child may be eligible to receive Free or Reduced-price Meals. You may apply online at www.MySchoolApps.com or complete a Household Application for Free and Reduced-price Meals, which can be send home upon request.
New Withdrawn Policy for 2023- 2024 School Year
New this year MCPS is lowering the threshold of consecutive days of unexcused absences from 15 to 10 days. If a student is absent 10 consecutive days they will be withdrawn. MCPS will require schools to complete the following forms: MCPS Student Permanent Withdrawal, regardless of student age and the MCPS Educational Interview for Withdrawal Prevention. Then the forms will be filed in the student’s cumulative folder.
Updated Covid-19 Guidance for the Fall 23 - 24 school year
- COVID Positive - Positive individuals should isolate at least 5 days at home per CDC guidelines
- Case Reporting - No online self-reporting or dashboard, however please contact Ms. Hedley and classroom teacher to let them know the absent was due to COVID-19.
- Masks - required temporarily in outbreak situations and for COVID positive individuals on days 6-10. (Note: Individuals with 2 negative tests between days 5-10 can end the face covering period early and after 5 days of isolation)
- COVID-19 Vaccination - Strongly encouraged but not required for students, staff and volunteers
- COVID-19 Clinics - No more weekly clinics at schools
- COVID-19 Testing - Home test kits may be distributed for screening testing: During outbreaks, before or after school breaks, or at other times as determined by school leadership and depending on available supply.
- Health room testing - Will no longer be conducted for students presenting with possible COVID symptoms during the school day.
- Communication - We will send a letter to staff and students that have reported they have COVID-19. We will also communicate to staff or students who have been exposed in possible outbreaks only (3 or more cases in a classroom or activity within 10 days) or (5 or more cases within 10 days from different classroom and homes)
