Liberty Family Newsletter
August 7th, 2022
Dear Liberty Families,
It's hard to believe that we are already in the month of March. This month we have Spring Conferences scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. These conferences are by invitation only. There is no school on Friday, March 15, 2024 for students. Our staff will be receiving professional development on this day.
We will be kicking off our Right to Read Week which is Monday, March 18- March 22nd and our Spring Break will begin March 25th-April 1.
We also want to remind families that there will be no school on Monday, April 8th due to the eclipse. All schools in Lorain County will be closed due to anticipated traffic in the area for the eclipse. You can find more information about the eclipse and activities in the area here.
Attendance Update
Spring is the perfect moment to revisit the significance of attendance for our children's academic progress and holistic development. Drawing insights from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, it becomes evident that attendance holds the key to steering our children towards success, starting from their earliest school years. From kindergarten onwards, chronic absence may serve as an early indicator of potential hurdles, such as reading proficiency by the end of third grade, overall academic achievement in middle school, and eventual high school graduation.
Beyond these statewide insights, it's essential to shed light on our school's own attendance data. Currently, 82.3% of our students fall within the low-risk category, while 16.2% are considered moderate risk, and 1.6% are identified as high risk for attendance concerns. This data underscores the importance of maintaining vigilance and support for all students, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and encouragement to attend school consistently.
Attendance isn't merely about physical presence in the classroom; it's about seizing the multitude of opportunities for learning, growth, and connection that school offers. Regular attendance enables students to engage meaningfully with their peers, foster relationships with teachers and staff, and access vital resources within the school community. Furthermore, consistent attendance is pivotal for nurturing students' mental health and well-being, laying the groundwork for academic success and personal fulfillment.
As we revel in the renewal of spring, let's renew our commitment to fostering a culture of attendance within our school community. Together, we can empower our children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, ensuring that they embark on a path towards a bright and promising future.
