5th Grade Camp Info
The 5th grade students from all four elementary schools go to camp at the same time, so it is one of the ways we help students get to know each other before going to middle school. There is a cost, but it is under $100/person (chaperones need to pay as well). We are able to help with any financial needs.
Golden Lions this week
Here are the Lakeview Golden Lions for this week. We had 24 examples of being safe, respectful, and engaged!
• Oscar was very engaged and took ownership of his learning by using our online Library resource to put books on hold. He found books that were a good fit using Destiny Discover. Keep it up Oscar! - Mr. Franecki
• As we have been developing our class behavior expectations matrices, Ellasyn has been a role model for following all of the expectations we have decided are important to us as a class family. Thank you, Ellasyn, for demonstrating what being safe, respectful, and engaged looks like in our room!
• Gizelle has been doing an amazing job with the expectations in the classroom. She has integrity, which means that she knows what to do even when no one is watching. She knows that when I ask the class to sit on the rug, she will sit criss cross and have the zero in the air reminding others and she will have "bubbles" in her mouth. She is not distracted by her peers but is setting a great example. Thank you Izzy!
• Kennedy volunteered to walk with a friend to the bathroom and back quickly. I really appreciate your willingness to volunteer to help out a friend in class who needs help. It helps me and it helps that friend. It shows how responsible and respectful you are. Thank you!
• Owen included a kindergarten friend in the kick ball game during recess. He took the time to teach the rules, run with the friend, encourage and support him.
• Liam included a kindergarten friend in the kick ball game during recess. He took the time to teach the rules, run with the friend, encourage and support him.
• Alterriah included a kindergarten friend in the kick ball game during recess. She took the time to teach the rules, run with the friend, encourage and support her.
• Mrs. Carrier's Kickball Recess Team encouraged and cheered for for a kindergarten student during a kickball game. Both teams ran with the kindergartener down the baseline to make sure he got to home plate safely and earning a score. The kindergarten friend has been recovering from a leg injury which made the encouragement even more special!
• Mrs. Bugalski's Kickball Recess Team encouraged and cheered for for a kindergarten student during a kickball game. Both teams ran with the kindergartner down the baseline to make sure he got to home plate safely and earning a score. The kindergarten friend has been recovering from a leg injury which made the encouragement even more special!
• When Ava is confused about a concept during discussions or the expectations on an assignment, she always asks for clarification. Thank you for taking such great responsibility for your learning, Ava. Keep making your beautiful brain grow!
• Kendyll noticed a kindergarten friend needing a friend to play with and offered to play with her. Kendyll also made sure the kindergartner had her shoes on correctly and tied.
• During MAP testing, Nolan gave his best effort and took his time working through the assessment. He showed persistence when he had to keep switching computers due to connectivity issues and continued to display a positive attitude. Thanks for working so hard, Nolan!
• Jazmine and her partner were working on a shared writing piece. Rather than jumping right into the story, they took their time and created a plan in order to create a strong story. They took what they learned in 4th grade and are continuing to learn in 5th grade and applied it to their independent writing!! Way to go!
• Sophie and her partner were working on a shared writing piece. Rather than jumping right into the story, they took their time and created a plan in order to create a strong story. They took what they learned in 4th grade and are continuing to learn in 5th grade and applied it to their independent writing!! Way to go!
• Legend comforted a crying kindergartner at recess time during the noon siren practice drill. He explained that purpose of the drill and how it was helpful to us. Thank you for caring enough to take the time from your recess!
• Julio came into class ready to work! He read two books and did an awesome job in math. Julio was so respectful and extremely engaged, what a great day. I am so proud of you and all your hard work. KEEP IT UP!
• Deondre really took his time when taking the MAP test and he didn't give up!!
• Lerice saw that someone was struggling to clean up their desk. He went over to that person to help them put all of their belongings away. Thanks Lerice for taking care of our classmates.
• During a partner activity, Amie noticed that one of her classmates didn't have a partner. Amie invited her classmate to join her partnership. Thank you, Amie, for making such a kind gesture that made your classmate feel respected.
• Eliezer followed instructions and was safe with his body and tools in Art class. He sat safely on his chair and used tools properly. Keep it up, Eliezer!
• Brielle did a great job listening respectfully and following instructions during Art class. She showed active listening, with her eyes on the speaker, Level 0 voice, and calm body. Keep it up, Brielle!
• Amina did a great job of being respectful in Art class. She followed instructions, kept a Zero voice level when the teacher was talking, and was kind to her classmates. Keep it up, Amina!
• Kingsley is always safe in Art. He sits with his bottom on his seat, his legs down, and body calm. Kingsley is also respectful. He listens to instructions and is kind to others. Keep it up, Kingsley!
