Message From Dr. Otway
Gratitude for Your Commitment to Your Child's Education
I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. As we approach the colder months and settle into the rhythm of the school year, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering commitment to your child's education.
It brings me great joy to share that, as a school community, we have witnessed significant improvements in various aspects of our educational programs. These positive changes are a testament to the collaborative efforts of our dedicated teachers, engaged students, and supportive parents like you.
Your involvement in your child's learning journey is invaluable. We believe in the power of a strong partnership between home and school, and your active participation has contributed immensely to the positive atmosphere we are cultivating at College Park Elementary.
While the colder weather may make it tempting to consider a day away from school, I want to emphasize the importance of every school day. Each day your child spends in the classroom is a valuable opportunity for growth and learning. Our teachers are continuously refining their skills to provide the best possible education, and your child's presence plays a crucial role in this process.
It's natural to face challenges, and we want you to know that our doors are always open to offer support. If you find yourselves in need of assistance with food, shelter, or transportation, please don't hesitate to reach out. We are here to help and support you in any way we can.
Remember that every day counts in your child's educational journey. Even when it seems tempting to miss a day, staying consistent with attendance ensures that our teachers can tailor their instruction to meet the specific needs of each student. Each day builds upon the last, contributing to a foundation of knowledge that will serve your child well in the future.
Thank you for your continued partnership, dedication, and trust in College Park Elementary. Together, we can create a nurturing environment where every child thrives.
Wishing you and your family a warm and joyful upcoming holiday season.
Warm regards,
Dr. Maisha N. Otway
Principal, College Park Elementary School

Remote Learning Participation
Do You Know About Remote Learning for Absences
Remote Learning Participation Elementary School (Daily Attendance):
Student participates in synchronous Reading/Language Arts and Math instruction remotely or participates asynchronously as defined by the teacher. Students can substitute up to 5 absences per semester (a max of 10 per year) with a remote learning day by meeting the remote learning participation benchmarks listed in policy. This would result in the student being counted as present for the day(s) they participate remotely.
Students need to meet the following guidelines to receive credit:
- To be marked present, work must be submitted within 2 days of absence.
- Students may not use a remote learning day on a test day.
- Parent/guardian or student must notify teacher in advance to the start of the instructional day to utilize the participation benchmark rule.
- Schools will make their best effort to provide instruction given early notice.

ORANGE You Excited for Farm to School!?
This December, sweet, farm-fresh oranges served at breakfast and lunch are part of Fulton County’s School Nutrition Harvest of the Month Program. These locally grown oranges are heading straight from a family farm to your plate. Because it’s grown closer to home, it helps support our local farmers and takes less fuel to get to our café. Not only are these locally grown oranges good for the environment, but also, oranges are great for your body, being an excellent source of vitamin C! With over 600 varieties of oranges, they are the most consumed citrus fruit in the United States. Try a freshly harvested orange from the school café in December!
