The Tonasket setting is rural with magnificent topography of mountains and valleys. The Okanogan River, part of the Columbia River system, flows through the town of Tonasket. There are many lakes in the area, some large and others quite small. The climate is best described as semi-arid with four definite seasons.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Elementary Art Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Elementary School
REPORTS TO: ES Principal
WORK DAYS: Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position involves teaching grades K-5 art classes in Tonasket Elementary School.
DUTIES:
Qualifications Required:
Valid and appropriate professional education certificate for the state of Washington.
Endorsement in Art required, or develop a plan to gain endorsement.
Experience teaching Art at the elementary level preferred.
Demonstrate classroom management procedures that provide for individuals as well as large and small groups, and provide an environment conducive to learning.
Uses appropriate disciplinary procedures, establishes clear parameters for student behavior, responds properly when problems occur, and helps students toward self-discipline.

Demonstrates knowledge in teaching/ability to teach a wide range of art media (paint, clay, printmaking, charcoal, chalk, pencil, etc.) and techniques
Demonstrates the ability to teach art elements and principles as well as a wide range of art media and techniques
Performance Responsibilities:

Develops and modifies instructional programs to meet individual student needs.
Implements district-adopted curriculum and state essential learnings.
Develops positive techniques for improving student behavior and manages classroom so as to provide a productive learning environment.
Provides assistance and guidance to individual students.
Maintains student records, including daily grades, attendance reports, and others as required.
Enforces school rules and monitors student behavior in non-classroom settings.
Participates in staff development and meetings.
Works collaboratively with other staff and administrators.
Works to integrate Art with other subject areas.
Keeps accurate records and manages budget responsibility.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington state teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement as required by law and regulations.
MANDATORY CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Successful clearance of the FBI and Washington State Patrol fingerprint background check.
Successful Washington State Sexual Misconduct clearance.
Completion of Federal I-9, Employment Verification Eligibility form.
