Teacher Feature - Mrs. Cranfill
My own children inspired my teaching career. I loved helping in the classroom and one of their teachers told me to go back to school and get my teaching credential. That was 20 years ago and it was the best decision. I get to go to work every day and help children learn, play and grow.
Kindergarten is such an amazing grade to teach. They are so open to learning and progress. Some days are challenging but when I see that “lightbulb” go on; it is all worth it.
I feel so lucky to be teaching at McKinley! This is a special place; the staff, the families and students are all so dedicated and supportive. Teaching is so rewarding and being at a school like McKinley makes it even better!
Outside of school, my husband and I spend a lot of time in Lake Almanor. We like to take trips when we can; especially to the ocean, watch the Giants play and I enjoy gardening and taking walks. We have two sons who also live in Chico. They are talented musicians and often get together and make music.
In September of 2019 my oldest son had Medley; our granddaughter. She definitely has changed our lives. She is amazing and I try to spend as much time with her as I can!
Let's Keep Everyone Healthy and Our School Open
1. Screen your child for symptoms each morning before sending them to school.
2. Keep your child home for at least 3 days if they are not feeling well - sick children should not be at school regardless of the cause of the illness.
3. Keep the lines of communication with the school open - we all want what is best for your child and working together we can accomplish that!
Please keep children at home if anyone in the household is awaiting test results

CHARACTER TRAIT OF THE MONTH
A Kind Face
Ask your child about a friend or family member that they feel like they haven’t talked to in a while. Brainstorm 2-3 kind things that they feel about that person and then call them up and let them know! Better yet, video call them if you have access so they can see your smiling faces while you share.
Challenge yourself to reach out to one adult in your life and do the same. Call your cousin or your aunt or your friend that you haven’t reached out to in awhile and give them the kind gift of time.
