CBA Elementary Weekly Newsletter
October 14, 2022
Hello CBA Families!
Thank you for another great week at CBA! We kicked it off with an incredible Professional Development Day where teachers had opportunities to explore technology and effective use of the iPad, dig into student data, learn more about effective standards based grading and build their understanding of our reading curriculum. It was a fantastic day of learning and sharing!
We also had our first grade-level social! Our Pre-K students and their families met up at Bounce U for jumping, pizza and chatting with one another. It was a wonderful way to get to make connections to classmates and their parents. We are looking forward to our next social when Kindergarten students visit Bounce U next week!
October is Fire Prevention month and our youngest learners have been engaging in authentic learning experiences related to Fire Safety. Students built fire hydrants, played fire cup bowling to put the fires out and explored a fire sensory bin (don't worry, the fire wasn't real!). We also have the Goshen Fire company visit our Pre-K and Kindergarten students!
4th Grade students went on their annual field trip to Harrisburg to visit the PA State Capitol building! The had the opportunity to see where the House and Senate meet, the visited the Governor's office and were even invited to look through some of the books in the Senate library!
Important Update!
Next week, our 4th and 5th grade students are traveling to Washington DC for a 3-day tour of the sites, museums and monuments! We will see the White House, the World War I Memorial and World War II Memorial where we will participate in a wreath laying, the Einstein Statue, Ford's Theatre, the Washington Monument, the Martin Luther King Jr Memorial, the Lincoln Memorial and more. We will visit the National Museum of African American History, the Holocaust Museum, the Smithsonian and Air & Space! We are very excited for this experience for our students and their families.
The trip is from Wednesday, 10/19 to Friday, 10/21. Mr. Rodia and Mrs. Capotrio will both be attending as trip chaperones. We will be accessible, however, for day to day communications (absences, early dismissals, changes in lunch, etc...), please reach out to the following:
