KUTZ ELEMENTARY SCHOOL'S NEWSLETTER
September 1, 2020
Welcome Back Kutz Cougars!
This is an exciting time of the year as we welcome nearly 500 Kutz students back to school! Needless to say, it is also a little sad for all of us who hoped we’d be welcoming our students back in-person at this point. Despite this disappointment, you have a commitment from me, and from all our staff, that we will do everything we can to make the initial online experience rigorous, fun, and engaging. In addition, we have a whole team of incredible staff members, including our counselor, psychologist, nurse, and reading specialist who will do all they can to support your children’s academic, social, and emotional needs, whether they are in the building or learning from home. That bring said, we would also ask for your patience with the inevitable technology hiccups we may experience, especially during our opening days.
Obviously, this summer has been like no other. We continue to adjust to the COVID-19 restrictions that have been set, which has made school planning extremely challenging, as things seem to change very quickly, sometimes daily. Regardless of these challenges, we have been working hard to plan for the upcoming school year. These plans include new and unique scheduling and class placement needs, detailed building health and safety protocols, extensive training on virtual technologies, extreme cleaning protocols and general planning for various possibilities as the year progresses.
We missed the kids so much last spring and are looking forward to the day when they can step into school again - to return to normal. In the meantime, we remain committed to doing everything we can to provide the best education possible for our students through the virtual options that are available to us. In preparation for the start of the school year, there are a few key dates that our students and families need to be aware of. They are as follows:
- Wednesday, September 2 - Kindergarten through 6th grade students will pick up their devices according to the schedule sent last week. (Schedule is also included below.)
- Wednesday, September 2 - Student class placements will "go live" on the Parent Portal at 2 PM.
- Thursday, September 3 - Families will receive a welcome e-mail from classroom teachers.
- Tuesday, September 8 - First day of school for students
Sincerely,
Christina Adelberger
Principal
Device and Material Distribution
As many of you know, the Central Bucks School district will be distributing devices to all of our students in the elementary schools. Our student device distribution and material distribution will take place on Wednesday, September 2nd and will occur alphabetically by student’s last name. This will ensure that families with multiple children will only need to drive through the pick-up line once. Items that students may need during virtual learning will be packaged in a CB drawstring bag and distributed with the devices on Wednesday, September 2nd.
In accordance with state mandated guidelines, we will be practicing social distancing during this retrieval and limiting the number of staff members assisting during these days. All employees will be wearing masks and will be stationed with plenty of space between each person. We are asking that all parents remain in their cars and follow our directions to ensure the safety of all community members.

- Please have your passenger side window down or trunk popped for the items to be placed in your car.

As always, we thank you for your patience and support during this time. We appreciate, in advance, your support and cooperation as we work to make sure your child(ren) are prepared with their devices/materials prior to the start of the school year. We know that the distribution procedures will have one or two issues. While we cannot predict those challenges, we will do our best to streamline the process with everyone's health and safety as our main priority.
